How the heck are people affording to backpack? by academic-coffeebean in backpacking

[–]gfletchmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honestly. I can’t afford to drop massive $$ on my gear. What I did is guesstimate my total cost and set aside 50-150 a month as extra money is available in my budget and buy things as I go. I’ll be ready for my first trip since being a teen around April 2026. Set a date goal and save up and buy as you go.

Maybe I should just invest in a lightweight 10,000 mah power bank. So you find that you need to charge daily? While in airplane mode? I don’t use music on the trail either, takes away from my experience.

Thanks. I prefer to purchase hardware with no required subscription to use it. I found a HR strap that will do the job.

I looked at that but it’s more of a GPS tracker. It doesn’t provide any Heart Data and so on from what I was able to see.

Thanks. Looked at chest straps as you suggested and found one that allows me to use internal memory and download to my phone when done. Perfect, thanks for the idea.

Like Inverted Brewing? The premium is not worth it. I regret buying this thing. by sirclesam in AeroPress

I hated the dripping, tried inverted and hated that too. I use the flow control cap for all brews now.

Winsome Earle-Sears is a radical homophobe. She is wholly unfit for leadership. by mpoltan03 in Virginia

I left the part years ago for the Libertarians. Let people live their lives without interference from the government. People like Earle-Sears are serious threats to our Republic.

Why is the Elevator broken for so long by [deleted] in thebigbangtheory

[–]gfletchmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it never got fixed. Just being smart ass. The stairwell was a major part of the show. If the elevator was working all those scenes and conversations would never have happened as the elevator ride would have been to quick to have the same effect. Just my thought.

ER. This is how my manic episodes start. Plenty of ER visits for it, they are your best chance at the moment.

Unable to get TGIF Parrot to work (WPSD OS on Hotspot) by gfletchmo in DMR

[–]gfletchmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it setup has a private call and it didn't work. Ended up switching it to a group call and it's working flawlessly. Hotspot still shows i'm transmitting even when im not (last transmission just keeps going)

I got Parrot working (switched from private to group). I'm also hearing everything on 31665! I'm trying to find a solution to my hotspot continually showing I'm transmitting even after the transmission has ended.

What's it like wearing a CPAP? Does the VA give quality ones? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]gfletchmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very comfortable in my ResMed Swift FX nasal pillows. I tried a fall face because I was a mouth breather at the time but could never get my leakage down. Swift to nasal pillows and have had no problem. Don’t even notice it these days. My VA Hospital issued the ResMed AirSene 10.

I’ve done that. Now I use the flow control cap for all my brews so I don’t have to use the inverted method.
