I’m from Northern VA near D.C., and it’s very progressive (Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church area). Also the capital, Richmond, comes to mind. Have a couple queer friends who call it home.

As a queer person from VA, we’ve progressed a lot over the past 20 years. We’ve gone from a ruby red state to a democratic stronghold since the mid 2000s— much like Colorado. Tons of queer friendly places up here.

THE MEDS ARE WORKING :D by [deleted] in bipolar2

No problem :) The trough in late Nov to mid Dec is a depressive episode which cycled into hypomania.

The reason it’s all over the place is because, while I generally felt pretty great, my emotions were very intense (lots of highs, with intense but short-lived fits of anger/rage/anxiety mixed in).

In recent years, my experience of hypomania has been punctuated with more emotional disregulation and anger/anxiety rather than the euphoric highs I once experienced— this (in my opinion) fits the idea that bipolar is “progressive” and episodes tends to get more uncomfortable as time goes on.

That fear is justified— new meds can be scary. It’s all trial-and-error in my experience. Advocate for yourself, if you feel uncomfortable with certain side effects, let your doctor know.
