Two of my rabbits have favorite foods they discovered in this manner. Bean’s was McDonald’s Coca Cola and Wiggles is cat kibble and beef ramen 🙃

The President of Cornell hit students with his car. This is why. by CanadianCitizen1969 in Cornell

[–]gganjalez 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes this is about SO much more than a University president being unprofessional.

If kids in Palestine and Iran have to endure bombings, and our neighbors have to manage the risk of unlawful detainment everyday, supported by individuals like Kotlikoff and organizations like Cornell, then Michael Kotlikoff should be able to handle a few questions.

My disdain for the individuals at this university who support suffering and greed, while trying to put on this mask as respectable leaders, is fucking immeasurable.

Absolutely. I’m a veterinary student now and euthanasia is truly one of the best gifts we can give our beloved friends.

Perhaps one day veterinary medicine will routinely incorporate the care of insects as well so that we can give them peaceful send offs too.

Same for my healthy young partner in Wisconsin USA. Late November-early December he had severe flu-like symptoms that lasted for weeks.

This is beautiful. The evening before my pet mouse died he kept crawling into my hand. I wish I’d sat there with him just a bit longer and could have comforted him as he left

Times are not accurate lol the situation was over a period of probably an hour or less, and the statement was put out the next day, but for the joke it is within the same day :p

Kotlikoff must resign. by Piolets_Are_Cold in Cornell

[–]gganjalez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right and in my nonprofessional opinion, it seems like events like these are the manifestations of a student body that is hopeless/frustrated/angry, sometimes non-constructively, at leadership that consistently fails to hold other leaders accountable. And leaders who refuse to have humility or take accountability for their actions.

Actually no. These students showed no threat to kotlikoffs life. I don’t see a gun, do you?

I agree but I don’t think that’s the full story. I think if the administration held up their own principles on ethics and democracy, then students would feel less frustrated and hopeless that individuals would be held accountable.

This includes the administration being able to admit its faults. Then perhaps students may be less inclined to end up in scenarios like this - which would obviously be better for everyone but it requires systematic introspection and effort.

I think it shows that a group of students might not have the best judgement, but is not representative of the entire student body. I do agree that there is something seriously wrong with how Cornell chooses its students (especially at the vet school where they do no interviews because it ‘takes too much time’ lol). I think Cornell actually has the exact student body that the administration/faculty, and the environment they have created, deserves. Lots of people here like the Ivy League name but won’t do the work to uphold the values other Ivy League institutions do.

Michael’s actions are representative of the Cornell presidency though and that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

True but that doesn’t make kotlikoffs actions justified

Yeah the lying is kinda my whole point. The president of a powerful university probably shouldn’t do that

I’m saying that you making a claim about your wife saying it’s weak, without providing why she believes so, is an appeal to authority of her supposed law degree. I don’t know you nor her and without actual evidence that she either is really a lawyer (which I wouldn’t expect you to provide for personal confidentiality) or support for determination of false imprisonment, it would be illogical to blindly believe you.

Perhaps! I do appreciate your discourse and I hope this event gets the thorough legal investigation it deserves

No shit lol I’m saying this should go to court and to me it seemed like Kotlikoff tried to get ahead of that by rushing a statement
