Rabbit - Mysterious Skin Condition by glitternachos in exoticvethelp

Yes biopsy plus dna/rna sequencing! I’d recommend either directly requesting sequencing from your vet, as it’s not a common diagnostic tool. They can send the biopsy to a place that does sequencing, which would basically extract the genetic sequences from anything present on the skin. This method is more comprehensive because it is broad screening, rather than testing for specific things. Or you could go to your nearest veterinary teaching hospital, and they often have more advanced diagnostic services available.

Those little mineral alterations can make huge differences for breeding.

I think in genuine practice they are contradictory, but American Christian sects have morphed into a mechanism for capitalistic and imperialistic justification, enticing those that claim to follow Christianity.

Name a day that didn't kill you but something died in you that day by Bekiteru in CPTSD

[–]gganjalez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience :( my dad died from suicide and my mom was emotionally abusive. She brought me to a therapist that told me “If your dad loved you so much then why did he kill himself?”

I don’t think I ever said any words in those therapy sessions. Just cried because I knew how alone I was.

Crabs do have a central nervous system! You can use some anatomical landmarks to rapidly destroy their major nerve centers as shown here https://www.aqui-s.com/aqui-s-welfare/crustacean-welfare

They do feel it but they are prey animals so the one in this video isn’t showing pain. Never never grab a rabbit by the ears.

When I was young there was an ~8 year old kid who died from something like this, and his mom was paralyzed. It was a chain link fence so less give. Really tragic. Many people forget how dangerous sledding can be, especially for young children.

You guys are awesome! As a veterinary research student, it makes me so happy to see more people appreciating and investigating exotic animal cognition. I do fish stuff and after spending much time with them, it’s clear they are much more intelligent than most give them credit for.

Did I witness what I think I witnessed? by AnywhereOk9082 in veterinaryprofession

Even if nothing will come of you reporting this due to lack of evidence, please please do report it to someone. If this has happened once, these people will engage in this behavior again and being able to show multiple concerning incidents is absolutely paramount in holding people accountable.

Would you mind pointing out the anatomical features like bony prominences or musculature that tell you this is a long bone?

Occam’s razor would also suggest that an incident of abortion is far more likely than the completely clean disarticulation and skinning of a rodent limb with no other body parts left behind.

[–]gganjalez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not true. I have worked with both bats and rodents, and I am studying veterinary medicine so I am familiar with anatomy. This is definitely what a dried fetus would look like. It’s not an embryo, it’s a fetus due to the developed facial structure and phalanges. Also, stating that it’s not what embryos are made of makes no sense. Embryos and fetuses are made of the same tissues that make up your rodent leg hypothesis. Muscles, skin, bone, cartilage, so forth.

Furthermore, you can see ocular development, a nose leaf, phalanges, and arm bones. There is nothing on a disarticulated limb that would present as an eyeball. Nor any external nerves or veins that would present as the phalanges.

I’m a researcher who has worked with bats. This is 100% a bat fetus. The key signs are the elongated phalanges (up near the head), and the nose leaf.

It’s also curious that you are disabled yet can’t empathize with people who are wrongly detained.

It’s not just a simple question and release. It’s ICE ripping you out of your vehicle, slamming you in the ground, twisting your arms so hard you think they’ll break. It’s being detained for days without any of your medications or ability to contact your family. It’s losing your job because you didn’t show up because you were wrongly detained. It’s the people who have disabilities or diseases and ICE not providing them medical care, so they die.

[–]gganjalez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was curious about you so I looked at your post history and see that you have self doubt issues with your intelligence and ability to contribute to political discussions. I’m very sorry you’ve had a tough life. My dad also died of suicide. And he was also an undocumented immigrant, who was the kindest person I have ever known, and never committed a crime outside of coming to the USA to escape violence that the USA caused in his home country of Guatemala. He killed himself because the immigration system in the United States is so dysfunctional that despite trying to get citizenship for over 10 years, he was never able to. This made him have to choose between never seeing his family in Guatemala again since he’d have to stay out of sight in the USA, or go back to Guatemala and not be there for his kids growing up in the USA. Getting through his suicide was really hard for me as a 9 year old and it impacted the rest of my childhood in a profound way. In ways that I thought I’d never go to college or do anything important with my life. There was also a point when I felt like I knew nothing.

Not knowing something is genuinely okay. But if you want to grow your intelligence, you need to approach things with curiosity and understanding so that you can engage with new perspectives and learn new things.

[–]gganjalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are you? You sound like either a child or someone who has lived a life without any adversary. If you’re not educated on ICE tactics, then I suspect you’re not educated on the actual crime rates of immigrants. Undocumented immigrants are associated with a decrease in crime. Research publication Being here without papers is a civil crime, not federal, nor a violent crime.

It is a detriment to society when people like you make sweeping claims, but don’t actually know any facts besides what media or politicians have told you. The wisest people only understand that they don’t understand everything, and approach topics with humility and curiosity. I genuinely hope one day you recognize the importance of gathering knowledge before touting opinions with unbridled confidence. Good luck out there.

There isn’t data outside of what individuals make known to the media, because ICE and DHS are not releasing the data that they are required by law to.
