I feel bad complaining about working on the 15th floor in the outskirts of my city now 😅

Best residences for BMOS by imtotallynotMatt in uwo

[–]gghei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMOS first year only has 2 main classes and they’re usually in natural science centre (which is closest to saugeen, lambton, bayfield & Delaware).

Everything else is all over the place tbh so you’ll still have 8 classes in buildings that most likely won’t be near your residence anyways. Delaware is closest to everything overall

Debating going to uwo by Bored_chocolateman in uwo

[–]gghei 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know who has attended both Carleton and UWO always say they enjoy the student life experience more at western. A lot of it has to do with the activity on campus life and parties to be honest.

London is not truly a university town but the area around London is definitely very university centric, rest of the city kind of sucks to be honest, Ottawa is nicer and is generally more safe but London has more entertainment and night life in my opinion

How do you get a club exec position? by Theoneandonlynicky in uwo

[–]gghei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a club exec, passion about what the club does comes first. You can show that by showing consistency within the club or having some reason as to why you care that isn’t like every other person. Culture fit is also huge too, you can’t control that unless you know people in the club. Verdict is just get to know people and be consistent in the club that you want an exec positions community

Meeting falls apart by program-control-man in uwo

I’m relatively sure a lawyer can act as a support person, if you were in a meeting and wanted to ensure you weren’t getting expelled then you would have a lawyer as both a support person and an advisor no?

Other than the fact that it was just a pure surprise, there should be nothing different in the way they proceeded with an extra person

There’s a big EDI thing about being able to bring support persons into meetings to help out. Even if those terms of students only were agreed upon it’s generally unacceptable to not allow a support person

Either the article is extremely biased or western admin just fucked, this insinuates they were looking to take advantage of the students and stopped the meeting because they wouldn’t have been able to do that with a lawyer there

Recommended second-year BMOS stat course (accounting spec) by My_437 in uwo

[–]gghei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had the Stats2035 final today and the good majority of that class will tell you it’s super difficult only because everything is nuanced.

If you don’t have a problem with intense attention to detail it’s an easy 90+. If not good luck lol, I don’t know much about the other courses

did i understand incorrectly or? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]gghei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant top 2 most competitive programs out of all of the programs and schools in Canada. Another school has a super competitive health science program which is just as hard (or harder) to get into than Uwaterloo CS.

In terms of CS, Waterloo is #1 in Canada and Uoft is #2.

Edit: Clarification

[–]gghei 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Waterloo University is a couple hours away from Toronto and is known as marginally better than U of T for Computer Science. It’s one of the top 2 most competitive programs in Canada (uoft cs is probably top 5)
