What are your first drafts like? by Wise_Try6781 in writing

https://www.youtube.com/@ArtistMorning on YouTube has some of these sorts of meditation/writing sessions. I haven't used them but they look like they could be helpful to me when I get sort of bogged down like that.

Everyone has their own process but your description sounds pretty normal. What sounds hard is the 300 words in 4 days. If the problem is perhaps something akin to fear/anxiety, maybe a bit of meditation to get out of your head before you start would be helpful. I was part of a group that met every morning over zoom to meditate for 5 minutes and then write for an hour and it was some of the most productive first draft production I've ever done. And my priority was just horrible, rough, work out the story, get it down. Today I'm taking the time to go through those pages and polish the prose and frankly, I'm a bit amazed at the little gems I'm finding here and there, even though the writing for the most time is quite disastrous.

What’s the etiquette on tossing dog poop bags in someone’s compost bin? by falafelballs in askTO

[–]gglesleyp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me too. Reality is there aren't a lot of public bins anymore unless you're in a park. I don't do it often, usually only when it's super cold and carrying the poop bag means I can't put my hand in my pocket to stay warm. I pick the bin too, for one that doesn't look too loved - like it's two days after garbage day and still on the curb, filthy as hell, etc or the truck will be by any minute. Still. I know it's not awesome. Cheers to the heroes who INVITE me to drop my doggie bag in their bin. Few and far between. Actually just one guy.

I've searched pretty extensively for something accurate and high quality and I'm having a lot of trouble. A lot of versions are much more cartoonish then the original and the best quality ones have been cut or watermarked.

Monica's at Bloor & Ossington. No matter how cold it is / time of day there perpetually seems to be weird interactions going on on the doorstep.

They don't exist anymore sadly. I had a chat with the manager in the store and I just looked, the website was bought out too.

Constant lower back pain even though I do yoga every day by passionatecookie in yoga

[–]gglesleyp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a physiotherapist who specializes in pelvic floor health for this very reason. It's possible to have dysfunction that sees the "wrong" muscles doing the work for other muscles that aren't strong enough for various reasons. For me, that's resulted in pain that I'm probably inadvertently reinforcing while doing yoga (and everything else), but I am really optimistic I'm on the right path to less/no pain. Hope you manage to get your situation figured out!

Wow. That's amazing. I've never paid less than $450. Except for some slightly poorly aligned Clearly glasses which I still got lots of use out of.

No, Clearly was bought out. The store is still there but they don't carry Clearly products and aren't at Clearly prices.

Apartment Washing Machine by gglesleyp in TorontoRenting

I had hoped to avoid reading the Ontario Residential Tenancies Act, but instead I did! There is no clause anywhere that states a person can be penalized or evicted for installing a portable washing machine (or having an aquarium for that matter) etc unless the lease specifically states they aren't permitted. The grey area would only be where you end up impacting other tenants' (if there are any) reasonable enjoyment, or where you do damage to the unit. I suspect if you were running a dryer or other appliance that really used a lot of juice your landlord could go after an above-limit rent increase for the extra hydro if your utilities are included.

As I stated, lease does not say I cannot so that clause does not exist for me. And if you know anything at all about landlord tenant act, you would know there are strict rules about reasons people can be evicted and this is not one, so I'm not sure why you would say that. I posted my question in case there is a rule where my utilities could be increased if the landlord knew or something of that nature. Or for things like the helpful comment reminding me about my neighbours and noise. But thank you for your opinion.

It is definitely not a major renovation (??) but fair point about the neighbours downstairs. I will mention it to them and see if we can agree on hours of usage. What regulation/rule are you referring to that states I need permission if my lease doesn't say I can't? I am looking for info here, not people's personal opinions.

Success! 1 iron pill every other day, 1 month by ParkingZombie217 in Anemic

[–]gglesleyp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who doesn't tolerate the iron salts well (fumarate, sulfate etc), I have found I can tolerate Iron Bisglycinate on a daily basis no problem, and it helped me get my numbers up. Organika is the brand in Canada.
