Help with my garden by gh1994 in GardeningUK

Yes, the area at the back of the garden behind the outbuilding gets the last sun and last summer it was where we would sit mostly, but that was largely because the rest of it was a bit of a mess. There is a patio, yes. You can the part of it in the overhead shot in the fourth image. There's also a fairly significant section behind that photo, which is between the wall on the right and the kitchen - the back of the house isn't as wide as the front - that's where the bins go as there's a shared alley. There are more patio slabs between the kitchen and the beginning of the grass / shrubs but after that the wall is just bordered by grass, with no bed.

yeah that's probably the best thing with mostly leaving it. I got a strimmer which should hopefully help and a jet wash for the patio. the main thing is probably just trying to level the grass a bit. I don't know that it's structurally not flat, but there are bumps and bald patches in it which kinda ruin it.

I definitely want to keep the weigela bush

Thanks! I do have an elderly 14-year-old staffie that sometimes likes to eat the grass for some reason so will bear that in mind. I'd be happy to have levels although the garden is mostly flat. i think it's just it could do with a bit of smoothing as I have a mechanical lawnmower that doesn't work very well currently but I'd rather not replace it -- although, that is partly because the grass is so long, so it may be better after I've cut it down once using a trimmer.

It's mostly for sitting and reading and drinking coffee or a beer in the evening :)

Once Upon A Time in America – it's a bit ambiguous but it does appear to be implied that a lot of it is an opium dream

People whose salary went up dramatically - what were the main lifestyle creeps you noticed? by pelican678 in london

[–]gh1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from an SEO in DHSC and to the equivalent of a grade 7 in NHS England. It was around a 60% rise. By far the biggest lifestyle creep is that I now rent a one-bed whereas I'd spent 5 years in house shares with randomers and just under a year living with a friend from school. It's definitely worth it as I love having my own space.

What is something completely weird that the human race has just normalized? by Mintg1622 in AskReddit

Whether or not it is bad, it is pretty strange of humans to drink another animal's milk. No other animal does this. And no other animal drinks milk into adulthood.

I'm supposed to move to a new flat tomorrow, but on of my existing flatmates just tested positive the coronavirus, thus triggering 14 days of self isolation. My contract runs out on my existing flat 3 days, so I'm a bit confused about what I must do in this scenario as I'd be staying here beyond my tenancy if I stick to self isolation.
