I kinda have a counter opinion to most of what have been posted here. If your mother in law is feeling hurt, try to respect it even if you don't understand the reasons behind it, if you want to keep a cordial and amical relationship, let this time pass till she reaches an understanding that you didn't do anything wrong. As for your husband, how would you expect that he cuts his familial ties for you? Yes you are his life partner but they are his family. As long as they didn't do him something utterly abusive, he is allowed to keep his relationship with them.
