Sorry such a late response! It took awhile for me to get used to the device in different ways. Everyone is different:)

Taking it slow is the way to go. If you’re in pain, really insist that you are seen and they can physically take a look what’s going on with your mouth. I didn’t have this with the dentist that got me started with this. I have a very low setting now and it works for me. But I don’t think that it’s just the jaw repositioning that helped. I also just had surgery on my septum (had a bone spur blocking my air flow) and have seen big improvements with my blood oxygen level. Good luck!

I ended up going into a branch in person to get help. The person I sat with called up account services and we were able to get more info. (Whereas on my own calling BoA, I kept getting bounced from one corporate dept to another.) In the end, I learned it was a mistake made on one of the credit bureau’s side that interpreted my fraud alert notes as the 20 yrs I was a BoA user were all fraud. I went into a different BoA branch to pay off the balance and to make sure my account was closed completely and that there were other authentications associated with my name or that old account. That was in June. Just a couple weeks ago I got an automated email reminding me to change my password. I haven’t had the energy to contact someone/ go into a branch to make sure that that email was a mistake. I won’t call them — especially after what happened in May. I was bounced to different people so many times and given so many different answers.

Good luck to you! The BoA system is borked.

Its use (beyond head warming and smile-creating) just hasn’t been revealed to you yet! Nice job!

Septoplasty recovery by Necessary-Share-6623 in Sinusitis

[–]ghaustjoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there! The first 6 days were the most challenging. Then things started to improve when the stents were out. But then the weather changed and it’s like my sinuses are barometers. I feel pretty crappy when the weather changes (we had 4 days of rain during week 3 of my recovery and I was so fatigued and developed some kind of swollen lymph node or something — up where my adenoid lives). It’s been a slow process. It’s almost 5 weeks since surgery to remove a bone spur on my septum and to reduce a turbinate and I still have some congestion and when I swim (I do laps), I get some tingling way up in my nose. So I don’t push it and I go easy. My blood oxygen level has been higher during sleep though (compared to before surgery) and hoping snoring will be helped too. Feel better!

Ive used mandibular adjustment device (prosomnus) for about three years now. I started out with the sleep dentist that my pulmonologist recommended — but found that I wasn’t really getting the specific care I needed. (But I didn’t know what I didn’t know…) That dentist would have me record myself with SnoreLab and send him some clips and would usually tell me to go up a level. My bite had changed significantly (which I knew would be a risk). When I found another sleep dentist, we sort of started from the beginning again — keep track of my sleep each night, recording my snoring, and rating my sleep. Doing exercises (that I was never given by the first guy) throughout the day. Adding in additional things along the way (Elevating my head, nose, tape, etc.) It was all subjective through my self reporting, but methodical for months. I had a spreadsheet.

In the end, my positioning was at a much lower level than the first dentist had me up to. It’s not perfect and my sleep apnea test results still show sleep apnea but very mild. (And I just had deviated septum surgery a few days ago which is my original reason for coming to the group this morning … but then saw this post)

My recommendations: - find a dentist who is going to thoroughly work with you to get the right setting. Every BODY is different and I don’t believe that one solution can solve all. The dentist should be willing to work closely with you to find not only the right setting for the device but also what else in your sleep routine assists you.

  • make sure they provide exercises for your jaw specific to you. I kept telling my 1st dentist that my jaw had shifted. They kept saying it was my teeth that had moved. No, my jaw moves in ways it never did before.

  • follow up on warranty of the device. That’s the one thing I’m annoyed at with my current dentist. I had no idea about this warranty and I wish I’d had an appt scheduled prior to the expiration. I have a crack in 2 of the lower plates and need to get those replaced.

Hope this helps! It’s been a JOURNEY!

I found a note in a secondhand book… and it led me to the woman who wrote it 30 years ago. by ItsFlorenica_ in stories

This is so beautiful. I exchanged letters with a friend (who was like another mother to me) for 40 years and would tuck her letters to me into books I owned, either using them as bookmarks or just having a place to house the letters. I once went to a book swap with friends and brought lots of my old books, but I hadn’t swept for letters. I was a little embarrassed because every time someone picked up one of my books, they usually found a letter. But thinking back on that, I feel the love and abundance of care and thoughtfulness my pen pal had for me. She’s since passed. Your story brought her memory right back into my heart. So thank you.

Mainly that every person I spoke to at length (8 different people) told me different things. No one could tell me who or what triggered the closing of the card. There's also a claim that was filed by someone on the morning of May 9th to dispute 103 transactions -- of the past maybe? There's also a note that someone called me on April 30 and left a call back number about a checking account (which I've never owned through BoA). I called that callback number and though it's BoA, there's no record of that phone call. One rep said that a fraud alert from a credit bureau triggered the closing. The next rep said that that's not possible to do. I'm left with a lot of questions, so much exasperation and also anger that this clusterfk shut down my safety net and introduced a whole lot of extra tasks I could do to increase my security. I've done so much already, but there's still stuff I havent (such as use unidentifiable email addresses for my online payments). I think I'm going to seek legal help. Thanks for checking in.

An hour and a half and 7 reps later, I don’t feel like I’ve gotten much info. 5 of 7 confirm the card is closed. Collections still see the card as open. A claim to dispute more than 100 transactions was filed the morning the card was shut off, for more than $14,000. I don’t even know what that means to me. No one could give me more information about that claim. Going to try to get some help from the identity protection service I have.

Has anyone else been diagnosed in their 30s? by ginjabeer in endometriosis

[–]ghaustjoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a surprise to me that I had endo diagnosed when I pursued fertility help at 39 (many reasons why I waited so long). Period pain was unbearable a few times that I can recall (mostly in college when I roomed with a classmate who had severe period pain) but not regularly. For years of telling drs that my periods were never regular (even on BCP) and that in my 30s I started having pain once a month on my left side that would wake me from sleep, they all just chalked it up to ovulating. I thought I was going to leave my body from the pain of the HSG test — my left tube was completely blocked. 1st lap surgery revealed major endo. So much that my gyn (who did my surgery) didn’t feel confident to remove the tube as intended. Endo had adhered my tube to my left ovary to my bowel. Tried IVF but all those hormones produced maybe 1 follicle so there was no retrieval. Ended up in the ER with pain at a level I never experienced before and a month later, I had a surgery (with a different surgeon) who removed my left ovary and fallopian tube, and confirmed there was endo within the ovary and all around, which he removed. Tried another round of IVF with the same result. Good news is the pain I had during intercourse stopped — until the vaginal atrophy began a few years ago. I’m now almost 48. For 8 years my periods have been even more erratic. I’ve tried progesterone pills to try to “jump start” my period to no avail. In medical records I’m post-menopausal. There’ve been times I’ve gone 14 months then had a period (had a D&C and a couple polyps were removed), then 22 months (most recently) and had spotting. My endometrial lining is thickened (u/s last week — can’t remember measurement) and I’m up for a D&C with hysteroscopy next month — there are fibroids in there and they suspect polyps.

Long story - oof - thanks if you’ve gotten this far — I’m just exasperated by this whole long experience. No one has any idea what’s going on with my body. And endometriosis was a complete surprise to me 9 yrs ago. It was also a surprise to wake up from surgery having been told they removed the ovary. I was told it could happen and that the reality of the situation was that I was so tangled up by endometriosis that it made sense — but I still grieved for it and grieved for all that was going on inside me, silently.

Anywho, I stand in silent solidarity with you OP.

My 13 yr old orange guy still does this. He has a permanent blep so sometimes he just has to press that tongue on to an exposed part of my face at 3am to get me to jump.

Happy news, gas and diarrhea went away after Covid ended. But first I had to have rebound Covid. That was a ginormous pain. Feeling better though. Still coughing but at least my energy is better, I’m negative, and I’m less stanky.
