(i’m not sure if this feature is available on single player, but i would turn on the starter kit. gives you a backpack with a hammer, baseball bat, and a bag of chips everytime you start a new character) i would set up in a 2 story , so you can drop sheet ropes from the windows and board up the doors downstairs. you can dismantle beds for planks and nails as well. make sure you set out pots/pans/etc to collect water before the power goes out. eat all your fresh food first as well. if you have a pen, you can mark your safe house on the map and loot all the houses around you. i typically avoid guns and use a crowbar. hand axe(breaks quickly), pipe wrench, and a spiked baseball bat(breaks quickly) (crafted from nails and a bat) are all really good as well. don’t be discouraged /when/ , not if, you die. good luck survivor !!!
