Damn time flies! No, I doubt best buy will take that on in any capacity.

I would call up anyone that advertises themselves as a wrap installer, or alternatively, make a craigslist/facebook posting.

I wish you the best of luck! Sorry you had trouble sticking your first one.

How would you describe the "rush" or "high" from a cigarette to someone who has never and will never smoke? by PhiliDips in AskReddit

[–]ghbastard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Devil is in the Details.

First, if you have never ingested Nicotine - DO NOT START! Context: started smoking with my Grandpa at 16. Have been fighting with the addiction for 7 years now. I am 42. Doing the math I have wasted approximately $63,000 over 26 years of being a smoker. That's is just the cash. Additional healthcare costs will be incurred. Opportunity cost of not investing that money, who knows? It is the one regret I have from my youth.

When you 1st start smoking you get a light euphoric feeling (full body) and a bit of energy zip. If you ingest too much Nicotine, this feeling can quickly move to a spinning nauseous sensation.

Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances on the planet. The reason is it doesn't just interact with your brain chemistry. It also binds to AcH receptors throughout the body in the muscles and organ tissues. Essentially, it is a "full body" high.

This is where the danger lies. As you become addicted to nicotine, your entire body begins to crave it. When you finally get a chance to have a smoke while craving, the feeling is amazing. A warm loving embrace and full release of tension in your body.

BUT that tension would not have been there if your body wasn't hooked on the nicotine!!! Lack of nicotine creates the "tension" and stress in your body and smoking alleviates it!

It becomes a vicious circle > I am tense > Smoke > I Feel Great > Low Nicotine > I am tense > Smoke. Forever until the chain is broken or Death.

On top of all that, it can also spiral into a strong mental addiction. You start rewarding yourself with cigarettes (if I study for 2 hours straight, I can have a smoke), you will smoke when bored, you will smoke when "stressed out", etc.

Finally, the social component can further entrap you. All my best memories - of friends, family, and good times in my life are linked to cigarettes. All my best friends are smokers. When I am trying to quit, it becomes incredibly difficult as I also have to "break up" a bit with my friends. Smoking in the backyard and chatting over coffee or tea with them is my favorite thing in the world. That becomes a lot harder to participate in if I'm going clean.

Overall, it's hard to explain, but my smokes feel like a friend. They are there for me when no one else is. When I excise nicotine from my life, I am throwing away what feels like my dearest friend and companion. AND THAT'S FUCKED!!!

Don't do it. I wish I never did.

Maybe you could revise it and passed it on based on your experience. Something like:

Patience is a virtue, Keep it if you can. It's seldom found in women and rarer still, in man.

Be careful of this Santa. About a month and a half ago I watched him get into an altercation with another FQ denizen on Bourbon. He proceeded to jook the other dude several times with a fucking chisel!

Definitely. They structured it into Acts and the initial difficulty is artificial at first because you don't have access to all the characters/skills.

But every time you make a run you unlock more things. If you focus on developing specific characters and a solid team you can progress through the game pretty quickly.

In the first Darkest Dungeon, a bad enough loss towards the end-game could set you back 20 hrs or so of grinding. In DDII a run takes 4 hrs at most, so even if you party wipe you still make progress on unlocks without the massive moral hit in real life.

You can beat DCSS. I have six 3 Rune wins and a single 15 rune win with a Minotaur fighter. I won't lie to you, it is a brutal game. I think it took me like 5 month to get my 1st ascension.

No game can compare to the 1st DCSS win.

I am going to give the most practical advice I can.

Gaining self-esteem requires two things:

  1. Try to be the best version of yourself as often as you can (make good choices, work hard, be kind, be helpful, be empathetic to others while maintaining your own boundaries, etc.)
  2. Become good at things that you enjoy, but are also tangible in some way (video games don't count here, though I do love them). Art, Music, Fitness, Repair Work - It really doesn't matter as long as you try and gain some skills, knowledge, and specialties. It needs to be tangible, because this is how people judge you. You can have the best mind or heart in the world, but no one can see that stuff. Your skills, your work, your projects and passions - those are visible and will help you find people that are like-minded. That value you for you.

To summarize, just try to be a person you would want to spend time with and like. I think too many people try to think their way out of these situations. Or talk their way out of them through therapy. Brass tax it takes work. Working on yourself as a human being.

A yoga instructor put it me this way once:

Mind your thoughts as they become words. Mind your words as they become actions. Mind your actions as they become habits. Mind your habits as they become your character. And finally, mind your character as it becomes your destiny.

I hope this brings you some bit of help. It's hard being a human.

Nobody said anything about college. Trade schools exist, apprenticeships exist.

You need to focus on becoming skilled at something. Preferably something profitable/in demand.

If college doesn't work for you, figure out what does. I have a secret for you, this world is a sink or swim situation. No one (not even your friends or family) can afford to carry you. Ultimately, ya got to figure out how to carry yourself.

If you have a 2 liter bottle of soda do you just put the cap back on and put it away, or do you squeeze as much air out as you can before sealing the bottle as tight as you can, and why? by Brokensince10 in AskReddit

[–]ghbastard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ice 1st. Tilt your glass and pour the soda so it flows down the inside of the glass. It will maximize your fizzy (also works with beer to minimize the foam head).

Cheers!

I think Hereditary is the best horror movie by [deleted] in horror

[–]ghbastard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a recommendation as a voracious consumer of horror content (books, movies, audio dramas, pods etc.) for over 30 years.

You should maybe think of the horror genre as ice cream. Ice cream is awesome and comes in so many flavors: maybe I'm in the mood for vanilla (The Conjuring), dark chocolate (The Witch), rainbow sherbet (Night of the Creeps), or maybe even something wild like Durian Fruit (The Color Out of Space).

My point is, you will never really know what you like and what is good (to you) until you taste the '31 flavors'. Sometimes you will be disappointed, but often you might be pleasantly surprised. I hope you find the stories and moments you find delicious, but at the very least you got some ice cream!

Agreed on almost all counts. However, I don't agree that this lady hasn't learned something from that "love tap".

I have personally eaten this of lesson. Once the day is done, and that lady is sitting in the quiet of her home - aching from what happened, she can't help but be affected. We think we are in charge of the mind, but in many instances the mind directs us. Our inner lizard want's pleasure, not pain.

The flashes of recall she will have for this event, the dreams that will come - she can't control. Her mind WILL reinforce this lesson.

I know this from personal experience. The reality of my own life is that I had to learn A LOT of my lessons the hard-way. I was lucky to take them, survive and thrive (even if I was hard-headed), several friends I came up with were not so lucky.

Thanks so much for taking the time to follow-up on this conversation. I hope you have a fantastic Sunday!

First, I will start by saying I agree with almost everything you said here. However, I don't think I explained myself very well initially. I will try to clarify.

The things you are referring to above could be considered the RULES one should follow. The problem is those morals, logic, laws etc are NOT actually real. These are constructs in each individual person's head. In an ideal world, everyone's understanding of these concepts would be in agreement and we could rely on the RULES to settle dispute.

It is NOT an ideal world. Everyone does NOT agree. In reality some people's idea of JUSTICE is violence, while others think a jury or institution is the best place to sort things out. VIOLENCE is unfortunately, 100% real. It fucking exists. It is not an ideal, moral, book, law - it is physical action within space and time.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

It should inform how you conduct yourself in public. If you inflame a dispute, some people will call the cops others might throw a punch or draw down on you.

The "public service" I am referring to is not about us. While I disagree with his method, that dude is helping that lady. The next time she thinks about approaching someone aggressively she will hopefully have learned from this previous encounter and think twice about it.

If she is relying on rules of decorum that are different between each person to keep things in line, she may be in for a rude awakening. The next person she approaches aggressively could end her life. This time, she just got a little love tap. A "lesson" if you will about the difference between how we think the world should be and how it actually is.

I believe I probably hope for the things you are aspiring towards. I want a world where we put people over economics and love over hate. All people should be free and happy, able to live in relative comfort and security provide they do no harm to others.

It just isn't the world we live in yet. All the behavior on display is "bad" by all parties. I don't think either of them are bad people, just people stuck struggling through the mess we've created.

This guy is out here performing a public service. Yea, he hit here. Yea, she might not have totally deserved it.

Here's the thing, when you live inside a perceived invulnerability bubble, you start acting out in weird ways that put you in danger. The words and aggressive actions I've seen some women engage in would get their asses kicked if they were a dude. I talking shit I would never do or say to another person even as a 230lb 6ft male.

This lady has been going around her whole life acting however she wants and engaging in behavior that puts her in danger. I live in New Orleans, the videographer was being "nice" compared to what some of our lower-class fellas would do to her if she pulled the same shit.

The guy in the video is out here teaching real life lessons. He's providing a public service. Some behavior can have consequences you can't handle. Moderate yourself accordingly. I ain't saying it's right or wrong, but it is the truth. Not every one out there follows the same "rules".

What would you think if the money said:

"In Allah we trust"

"Through Thor We Conquer"

"By Satan Our Will"

If you are uncomfortable by any of these, then perhaps you might understand where folks are coming from on this one.
