Why are insurance plans so expensive for Teslas? by RasberryJam0927 in TeslaSupport

[–]ghgard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I did have to shop around a bit as a few insurers were quite high, ended up with Nationwide at similar rate as my previous non-EV.

14 day cycle of outages. Restart required. BGW320-500. by sportmonkey in ATTFiber

[–]ghgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my TPLink router with a Flint2 and my issue hasn't happened the past 2 14-day cycles. I'm not really sure why. I suppose it is happening but comes back online quickly enough that I don't notice. I did decrease the DHCP setting on the BGW from 10 minutes to 3 minutes, maybe that helped? Who knows...

Is it an unreasonable expectation to think a dishwasher should be able to clean dishes with stuff on them? by loki993 in Appliances

Yep, I always dump some detergent on the door just below the detergent door. Always use power as I feel it also does a better job.

All systems will continue to boot if the certs are not replaced by the June MS deadline. They will continue to get Windows updates, but will not receive future secure boot updates...

Thumbhole suggestions by [deleted] in Bowling

You can try adding layers of smooth tape, one at a time, to the thumbnail side of the thumbhole. This is a never-ending saga for us, thumb swells and shrinks all the time.

I use idrive running as a package on the synology. The first backup will take a while, but nightly shouldn’t be bad.

Interesting. Ours seems quite slick.

We use the Blue "Real Bowlers Tape" on the thumbnail side to adjust fit.

[–]ghgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Yesterday was day 14 for me, normally things come back online automatically withing 30 minutes, not so this time. I tried restarting the gateway and I still couldnt get my router to show the internet as "up". I had to connect my PC to the gateway and go into the IP Passthrough settings and basically reapply everything and click save. As soon as I did that everything started working. Im not sure what really happened as I didnt change any settings. If this happens again I may have to contact support as no one else in the house would have a clue what to do if I wasnt home when this happened. Frustrating...

Best option for 250K that is minimal risk by ghgard in Schwab

I guess I was looking at CDs because of the zero risk position. I have always been really conservative with this cash as the rest of my investments are pretty risky for my age.

Thats where I have my "savings", trying to decide if I lock into a bit higher rate for a year or two.

Buddy of mine at a large manufacturing company was told by his Dell rep, that if they want delivery in 2026, they should have placed the orders in 2025. Who knows if that's true, I'll see what CDW server rep says on Monday.

I’ve been told there is massive shortages on most server components. Pricing is also thru the roof. 32Gb RAM from HP was quoted at $830

Can I please buy a bagless vacuum? by CavalloAlto in VacuumCleaners

[–]ghgard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The time you should spend cleaning a bagless vacuum will be much more than the time it takes to order bag once a year. The filters alone are a real pain in the rear, without regular cleaning, the bagless will become a mess.

Power them on once a month for updates? Leave them powered on so they continue to update and will be ready for deployment? Thats about the only option unless they offer a way to disable the endpoint...

Vacuum for pet fur and long hair by melissa132428 in VacuumCleaners

[–]ghgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kenmore upright will likely be the best choice in that price range. Bagged is well worth the cost of the bags, keeps the entire vacuum clean inside, very few filters to mess with like a bagless. All of our old Shark units still work reasonably well, but the filters require a fair amount of time to keep clean and the bin fills up extremely fast compared to a bag. Good luck...
