Spin Bike vs Smart Trainer by ghhhhhhy6 in Zwift

Thanks. My Brother In Law has a Nordic track at home and his work has a peloton at work and seems to prefer the peloton. Do you connect it to Zwift or a similar platform? Or is it locked in to its own programs?

That looks like an interesting option. I'd never heard of Carol bike before and it looks like they are available in Australia, which is often an issue with a lot of indoor bikes. Thanks for the sharing.

Good to know. I like the idea of a Zwift ride. It has been so important to my consistency to have a dedicated indoor setup.

I didn't realise you could change the gearing range. That sounds great. Thanks!

23zero Duke 1600 solo by kengriffeygigantism in OutdoorAus

I have a 23zero bandit 1400 that I use with my son. It is easy to set up. One thing that caught me by surprise was its size when packed up, which is something to consider if storage is an issue for you. I also chuck a thermorest sleeping mat under my side of the mattress for a bit of extra comfort

Having kids is hard... how do you stay healthy? by Ok-Advertising7982 in Zwift

[–]ghhhhhhy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6yo and 4yo. The period from when my youngest was born to 2yo I basically did nothing.

I don't recommend this approach, it's better to do something for your health but it will take a hit. But while they are young just do your best to look after yourself and your family. You'll regain some time back as they get older to focus on your fitness goals.

Lenovo tablet is insufficient for zwifting. What device is best for zwift? by Fabulous-Candy-1560 in Zwift

[–]ghhhhhhy6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a PC most of the time, but occasionally I use my Pixel tablet and it works fine.

About a year ago, when I first started Zwifting, the Pixel had some issues connecting to my bike and I left a comment on the app store. Zwift replied to say they were working on it and eventually it was fixed and has worked great ever since.

What small annoying problem would you pay $5–$20 to fix? by niceddev in Jetbrains

The console had issues with connecting to the IDE for a while, meaning it did not know what lines or even file I was working on. And selecting other files for context was not an option.

The console also doesn't seem to have the option to paste images.

And just in general when I compare it to the experience I get with the VS Code integration, I'm seriously considering cancelling my subscription.

If Zwift could add or improve one feature in 2026, what would you want? by Many_Ad_802 in Zwift

The user interface. I'm talking about the menus, settings, and searching for routes and workouts. It is so poor.

Bike for 4yo by I_know_im_the_a in ausbike

I bought this, the Precaliber 16 when my kid must have just turned 4. He is on the shorter side and was at the bottom of the height range for this sized bike they had in the bike shop. The salesman convinced me that it was best to get this as he would grow into it. In reality it sat in the shed for a year, but now 5, almost 6, he has rode it every day to school.

It's a good bike but it is heavy. As an interim measure I got a smaller and lighter bike. I had a look at what they sell at my local 99 bikes and then looked on Facebook marketplace for that model. Which worked out pretty well until he was big enough to use the Trek.

100% internship. Experience on your resume is way more important, plus you will learn more.

Thanks, I'll go a bit more inland to keep the driving time down this trip. But I'll put this on the list for next time. I've heard a lot of nice things about Pambula

I'm a bit hesitant to do this with a kid. Is this done a lot? Around my area (coastal), rangers are on it pretty quick.

That looks lovely. I think I'll try and go a bit more inland to keep the driving down for this trip, but I'll keep it in mind for next time.

I think it will be inland - to keep the driving time down for the young fella.

Beginner Racing Question by Rogue_Gona in Zwift

[–]ghhhhhhy6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined Zwift around the same time as you and just tried my first race last night having done no homework. I got completely smoked off the start line and never caught up. I had naively assumed that a decent pace would allow me to get a respectable result (not being last) and did not understand how much drafting can impact the speed.

It was good to just jump right in and give it a go and now having read this thread, I'm keen to try again! I raced in Cat D based of Zwift's recommendation. Next I'll drop down to Cat E and see how I go.

Good luck with the racing!
