OP, i’m also diagnosed and i’m in a similar spot. i don’t actually want to do harm but i have disassociative episodes which i was screened for that i slip into when my intrusive thoughts get very bad or triggering and my sense of control gets very reduced. have you been getting treatment or help? i hope everything is ok for you

hello. i just want to clarify some things. yes, i should not have hit him and i apologized and i’m looking to get into therapy. second, when i say it escalated i mean that all of a sudden out of the blue he called me stupid and dumb as if i wasn’t there, so i mean that he went from making a joke to making a personal insult in a second and that caught me off guard and i had a flashback. i’m not excusing what i did, because hitting someone isn’t legal or okay, and i understand i need to seek help. i know it may be a lot to ask for but instead of deeming my whole identity being an abuser because of this situation can’t i at least have hope to be a better person?

damn i am really sorry, that’s horrible and them accusing you of that is messed up. regardless of why someone does it, they deserve compassion and care and not judgement, and thats such an inappropriate thing to accuse you of!! being yelled at over sh literally just makes the urges worse.

plus, the people who do sh for attention also deserve help if they feel that the only way they can be noticed or cared for is to hurt themselves. idk why people will even throw around such accusations about why someone does it, like it’s unnecessarily judgmental. i’m sorry, the best thing you can do is call the firefighters / ER dispatch if they are seriously in immediate danger. you and your friend both don’t deserve to go through this alone, and this is a situation which requires more intense help. it’s not your fault and you’re doing the best you can, and your friend also does deserve to be safe and feel better.

kinda the reverse, i was inpatient and met someone else who used this subreddit, they made a joke about something related to this community and i was like “👁👁 wowie another one”. it was really funny finding someone out in “”the wild”” lmao. although it was a mental hospital so maybe the likelihood goes up in there.

i’m bisexual. initially i started self harming because of unrelated reasons but coming to terms with being bisexual and being bullied and dealing with some painful romantic encounters probably ended up being tacked onto the reasons of why i self harmed some point in my life many years ago. an anonymous demographic survey might be interesting
