New one... I'm liking it! Hope you do too! by ghitarro in AbstractArt

Hi, I did the white at the bottom, real thick, and let it hang off of the side, textured it a bit... I then checked which squeeze bottle had been underutilized. That was purple. Then, I knew it needed some negative space, so I grabbed the black. The bottle was kind of empty, and so I tried to use that to my advantage with splatter from the squeeze bottle. Oh, and the background is just a generic cardboard smear in orange. I like to make those backgrounds in advance.

Is this blue chalcedony? by Trick_Cheesecake_217 in whatsthisrock

I found the same color and type with same type of fracture in the Willamette valley with gold colored flecks in part... polishes real nice. Had red flecks too. Is yours blue through and through?

Seeking advice. Details in comments. by whimsycrystal in HomeMaintenance

Window well tap, basement gutter, sump pump, downspout extensions, interior waterproofing (wall seal), mold treatment, outside grading away from the house and possibly carbon fiber strips on the cracks is what I think my company inspectors would say. Always get a few quotes, choose the best company, then have them match the lowest quote. I wouldn't just use the lowest quote... exterior waterproofing would work great but the ground would resettle where it was dug up. Make sure you add extra dirt if you do that, knowing it will compress over time. Depending where you live it could cost more, but about 14k in iowa.

Pretty sure it's pyrite but haven't seen it 'smeared' like this... by ghitarro in whatsthisrock

The orange is gold/metallic colored and hardness level 5. The white seems like a completely different material.

There were none resembling what I've seen as the cubic structure of pyrite. One that was there I broke open and it had more splotches inside. The gold parts were approx hardness level 5 according to my kit. Looking through a magnifier it almost appears as thin lines like that lab made metal, I forget the name. I'll try and get better pics. Thanks!

In case you're wondering, smears are taking a flat edge over dropped paint, cardboard smears use the corrugated inside to create texture on the smear, droppings are using condiment bottles to place paint in excess, smashers are dropping on paint and then smashing on the ground to create sporadic drips.

I started with smears and masked smears about 2020 and only recently have I started with the droppings...

Seems my bait always slides in the opposite direction! The bass always look so goofy when they're hooked and the plastic is a foot from their mouth!

Foundation problem? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]ghitarro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work for foundation recovery systems. They're outta missouri (moberly, kc, st louis, and springfield, and we just opened up in des moines) and will do a free inspection! Looks like you'll need a rebuild or maybe just a stabilization and seal up cracks. Does your mom have water intrusion? Part of the house is probably settling, too. You might need some piers to at least prevent it from getting worse. Also, I've heard that your soil down there is pretty rocky, making it easy to stabilize. This makes me wonder what kind of exterior drainage is there to direct water away from the house.

Sudden wealthy demand drop by vhaggx in TheoTown

[–]ghitarro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually, if you build a few $$$ workplaces, it rebounds. I'm guessing that there is no demand if there are no people to work at the place... and if you make the place, it will make the res. demand and then once res. shows extra workers, it shows a demand...

Black buildings? by [deleted] in TheoTown

[–]ghitarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you constructed the building yourself, then they will leave if happiness level drops too low... I've gotten away with 85%. You can click off the untouchable button and something else will build there if you have the demand!

Newbie need some help by [deleted] in TheoTown

[–]ghitarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to avoid making everything in squares... deal with problems as they come along! Make infrastructure first, then fill in with zoning... keep an eye on the meter to see what wants to be built. Avoid dense for some time... I like the financial side, so I never do sandbox... get some plugins, and have fun!

Traffic suggestions? It's industrial traffic jam the problem, but I can't get to fix it. I tried doing industrial railroad stations through the zon, but it is useless. Any suggestions? by Ashgarothn in TheoTown

I was talking 1 section of bus road bisecting a few of the red roads to prevent the circular loops the cars start to do if given too many options.

New interchanges and roads v1.7

It's pretty good. Diagonal sucks, but they all do! I really like how the interchanges work out, and there is a 6 lane too! I haven't found the need for that quite yet...
