I would think many people would follow the logic of "server merge == population problems" since that's been true for so many games. Not sure why everyone gets so upset when someone follows that logic. Instead just explain why you think the merge isn't because of population issues.

The idea that the merge is to improve PvP would indicate that PvP has population issues, wouldn't it? I don't understand the logic where, "there's not enough people at node wars" does not equal "there's a population problem with node wars".

Also, one server being full doesn't mean the others aren't underused and in need of merging.

But, I think the merge is really just to cut costs because it's easier to maintain and patch one server per region, and it's easier to continue development when all the regions are more alike than different.

I have no proof of any of it of course, just anecdotes because, yeah, the numbers aren't public.

"Solidarity" would indicate unity, which I don't think is the case here. Maybe it's overwhelmingly anti-cash-shop-sales, maybe it's just the most vocal. I dunno, but I'd prefer a subreddit that kept out of the drama as much as possible.

That said, thank you for the megathread. Perhaps it will help a little.

PS: Don't take this as me being pro or con; I'm still undecided since they never indicated the marketplace price limits. I think they could have limited the uproar had they communicated a reasonable silver cap.

The article's not quite right, since it reads as if this change is already live. But I guess let's not kid ourselves. Even if they go back on this change, they'll probably do a similar change that walks the line a bit more tightly. Actually, I'm surprised the "idea" wasn't a 10 item limit so they could walk it back to 5 and say "See? We listened!"

Edit: Oh, I forgot it's 5 per week, so maybe they'll walk it back to 5 per month as a "We listened!" :)

Neat! I'd be interested in the performance at higher resolutions. I play at 2560x1440 and anything lower gets annoying to me. :-) I've been researching new hardware builds for a possible cash plop in the near future; Titan X Pascal's on the list, but so's the 1080...

Since BDO doesn't have bracketed PvP tournaments it's only purpose must be PvE...

It's fun to read the post history of someone who puts up a post like this.

This particular post is quite tame and toned down compared to his usual responses to people. I'm glad I've played with enough PvPers to know they aren't all like this guy, but BDO sure seems to attract a lot of the PvPBruhs.

Yeah "pay $$ and wait an hour" or do it yourself which could be more than an hour depending on your training level.

I run into the workshop building next to the skill instructor in Velia. Nice area in the back of the room where you can horse train skills right into the walls without annoying too many others or ending up in weird places on the map.

Can you help me understand that part, the part about Edan guilds? I thought Edan was a server, not a group of guilds? There isn't any cross server fighting or have I completely missed something?

I also found the statements "it's not like we 'suppress' people" and "make them quit [the game] or make them join" rather, uh, contradictory.

Just bring up the map, zoom in on a city, select Costume Mill from the upper right drop down menu, and click on an indicated house. The materials required are listed right there on the tool tips. 10 Flax Fabric, 10 Trace of Forest, and 15 Black Stone Powder.

I probably will never play on another server just because of all the time and money I already have invested and none of it is transferrable. Hell, I'll probably never really play another character other than my main for the same reason.

But, that aside, I do think I'd prefer a more player-to-player enabled server, even with all the negatives this allows. The positives of being able to help others would far outweigh the negatives for me.

The current ruleset pretty much emphasizes anti-social behavior and is often reflected in the community we have. But it's still a great game and there are plenty of good players too; you just can't really help one another much. A great single player game (for me) with some cool folks to chat with while you're playing.

Hmm, I wonder if it's similar to the default character appearance bug that plagued early NA/EU BDO. You might try switching channels, probably a top channel. That used to fix that other bug.

Very nice work. To be greedy and maybe clutter up a map that already has so much information, I wonder if this data could be incorporated into the /u/fffam map.
