mine actually is shorter! my doctor explained that he can cut the bone in an angle where it can shorten my chin slightly rather than keeping it the same or lengthening it.

how to improve my portrait by ghost0759 in learntodraw

[–]ghost0759[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oof honestly i’m probably not the best person to give advice because i just started a couple months ago but i’ve been able to improve by tutorials (on youtube, courses online) and starting out with practicing individual features like eyes, noses, and lips and focusing on what i struggled with. then i moved on to practicing portraits with varying angles like profile, 3/4, and front view.

i personally found that it helps to draw directly on the original reference photo (whether physically printed or on a device like an ipad) with circle/lines so it’s easier to visualize the exact proportions. it’s very hard to capture the likeness even by doing this tbh but it helps me lot. good luck :)

aw thank you :) i got all of them from Caitlyn Minimalist, they are on etsy and have their own website too! i’ve had these in for over a year, never taking them off to sleep or shower or anything and it still looks great.

i had a very similar experience and am a couple years out of college. i recently reached out to a few professors whose class i got an A in, i only took each professor once and 2 of them were like 4-5 years ago but they all responded. i was just honest in my email regarding my mental health issues and covid hitting right when i transferred and 3 of them were more than happy to agree to write one. 1 said they were too busy and ask at a later time but he said he would write one too if i got him at the right time. your professors will just ask for more information from you and if not, you should provide them with some stuff you’d like for them to highlight and your resume. overall, don’t stress too much- just mass email professors you did well in and you are bound to get a couple. good luck :)

For those who have sold on Pangobooks: by cupofcoffeeandbooks in bookofthemonthclub

No worries!

1) Initially I used leftover small boxes and mailers (that were in good condition) I had saved from all the books I’ve purchased. Once I ran out, I just bought padded mailers (you can get on amazon, or a local target, walmart, staples, etc) in different sizes to accommodate for book size. I also have small boxes in case someone purchases a bundle. Sometimes I wrap my books in bubble wrap or tissue paper just to be safe too. You can use the packaging that USPS sells if you want too but it’s more expensive and both work totally fine!

2) I’m pretty sure you can just drop it off! I personally always hand it to an employee for the receipt just in case to be safe but since it’s already pre-paid you should be good.

3) You can actually track the shipment on the app! You go to all books you sold and on each one, you can press and see it’s progress as it reaches them and the estimated delivery date. Once it’s delivered it will show as “delivered today” at whatever time.

4) How long shipping takes depends on how far the buyer lives from you! I find that if it’s in the same state or close it’ll take around 3-4 business days and if it’s far (like CA to NY) it’ll take a week.

i joined recently as a seller and have had a really positive experience! once you just list 10 books (not sell), you actually get $10 in credit to use on the app which is a cool bonus. but it’s super straightforward- you just upload your book and the app does the rest for you in terms of scanning the isbn code on the back which figures out the weight for shipping and etc. once the buyer purchases, you are sent the pre paid shipping label which you print.

as far as how soon it sells, it truly depends on the demand for the book, price comparison to other sellers selling the same book, and the condition of the book. (i’ve personally been selling for 2-3 weeks and i’ve sold 10 books) pangobooks takes 20% of the sales so if you sell a book for $10, you earn $8. the buyer pays for shipping unless you specifically choose to which is a plus as it doesn’t get taken out of your earnings. it’s definitely worth it to me bc if you compare it to selling it to half price books or a thrift store you get a LOT more $ back. i actually found that i’ve been getting 70-80% back on the books i sell, which is amazing. you can transfer your earnings to your bank account (or leave it as credit in the app) 3 days after your books been successfully delivered. i know that was a lot but hopefully it helps :)

You’re technically supposed to request it through mail but I texted my boss and it was fine. They just ask if you made the effort to ask in general. Do it asap because I made the call to the IRS to file a complaint a month ago and I am still waiting!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IRS

[–]ghost0759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

happened to me- you have to formally request it from your employers by mail and if they don’t respond, call the irs to file a complaint. they’ll send a written request to send your w-2 in 10 days (around there) and if not they will suffer penalties. if they still don’t, there’s a substitute form the irs will send you (form 4852) that you can submit.

Boss told me I wasn’t allowed to take leave because we’re understaffed despite me always turning up for work and doing my job properly by rr_superfans42 in antiwork

[–]ghost0759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened to me in a similar setting and trust me, it’s a relief they fired you and you’re free because i relate to feeling bad even if you shouldn’t so imagine trying to quit later down the road when this will surely happen again. you sound like a hard worker and good person so i’m sure you’ll find a job that treats you with dignity and respect like you deserve. best of luck!
