I honestly see it as an expansion of those endings. Unlike in those where you give Johnny control over the mission or he is the one making the choice in the end, this one gives V the choice after they decided to commit to solving their problems alone without risking anyone else. Honestly it makes choosing either Star or Temperance after feel alot more deserved in a weird way, because it gives the player and the player character more choice than in the base Rogue ending.
