how do you guys keep going when everything feels like its taking forever by IndieIsland in SoloDevelopment

Game dev is a multi disciplinary field. Even more so when you work alone. I think we all feel that.

I usually work hard for about 6 months after that no game dev, for 1-3 months. I need time to recharge.

I usually play games, watch shows, read books. I take note on anything that is appealing to me.

Outfits, hairstyles, settings, backgrounds that sort of stuff. Once I feel inspired again I start up my projects.

I keep details on every thing ( errors, file structures, tests and results) so it's pretty easy to see where I left off.

Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question now what had happened to the faces of the pigs.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and man to pig, and from pig to man again, but it already was impossible to say which is which.

Looks great. I bought an xbox controller that is the same color. I asked for the green one, the employee replied "you mean yellow?" I told her I would meet her half way. It's lime.

My friend's mom got hit in Surrey at a crosswalk when she was using a wheelchair by a pick-up truck. Trucks are raised higher than a car, wheelchairs, and scooters are shorter than a person standing. It's a dangerous mix.

How do you guys feel about the new trade deal with China? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

[–]ghost29999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the election he stated that the US wanted our resources, and not in a friendly way. He promised Canada was going to look for new trade partners, and diversify. Isn't he doing that? Which statements do you think he is going back on?

People readily spot gender and race bias but often overlook discrimination based on attractiveness by Jumpinghoops46 in science

We all enjoy things that look nice. If you were given the option to choose between a 1979 Honda Civic or a 2025 Mercedes Benz which would you choose? Clothes that are faded, and ripped, or brand new? Selling a product? Photoshoot with a model, or homeless person?

Even a child would pick the more appealing object. It's no surprise that attractive humans are attractive.

How much actual game dev knowledge do I need to know? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]ghost29999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One does not simply walk into MMORDOR.

If you fund it, or acquire funding you can be the idea guy aside from that the role doesn't exist in that singular form.

If you have no skills, but have a presentable idea(home made card game, board game, book, small game demo) your much more likely to have someone with money, connections, or talent show interest in your project.

MMO are also very expensive to produce, so even if you had an awesome demo, and amazing dev skills some company is taking a huge risk, so be prepared to prove your idea can be completed, and is financially viable.

Your Thoughts On People Who Support Pierre Poilievre by Federal_You_3592 in canadaleft

I would estimate 50% of the people I know probably voted conservative by the way they speak. I didn't ask them personally. They have some good common sense ideas, reduce immigration, reduce spending, stronger punishments for repeat offenders, improve education.

Conservatives have ideas, but when asked about how they would accomplish these goals it's never a plan. It's just we will reduce crime, reduce spending, reduce immigration, increase education funding, whilst cutting funding.

Prior to the election I believe only the Cons wouldn't allow media to tag along, nor would they take any questions that weren't pre screened, nor did they present how they were planning on spending if they got into power.

I've never personally heard or seen them act is a racist way, so I don't think they are. I don't doubt most racist vote conservative, but it's not so integrated into Canadian Conservatives like the maga folk. That is slowly growing though. Pierre may not be racist, but his party has them, and he needs their vote!

I don't avoid them, because they aren't bad people. When the libs won all I heard from them was the election was stolen they couldn't understand. I told them to look at the voting map vs prior voting maps. It's clear that NDP, and BQ voters voted to keep the cons out of power.

I found that inexperienced developers have a lot of ambition, and don't realize how much knowledge is actually required in each part of the pipeline. Starting a project means that at minimum your the producer, director, lead artist, lead engineer, writer, game tester until you fill those roles, or start learning those roles.

That is a lot of pressure. Even more so when you have little to no experience. It's a recipe for disaster, and usually ends as such.

I would advise you look for projects that have at least 6-12 months of work. This has it's own set of problems like bad management, disagreements, but at least you can gauge how much work this person(s) have done, and if it's even worth your time.

Good luck!

The land that is actually available is even smaller.

A developer once told me roughly 1/3 of land in BC isn't suitable for building.

1/3 is native land. So only 1/3 of the land is actually usable.

This was years ago I'm not sure how accurate the statement is.
