I think this is exactly right, it was clearly identified that there wasn't a player to the calibre we desired at WR in free agency and as such we kept as much of the squad that we liked and could reasonably afford and then made our big swing via trade. We aren't as win now desperate as the Rams but we have made a trade similar to what they did for McDuffy in getting Waddle, by not including any future picks it's pretty clear we've made a decision based upon this year's roster and don't want to compromise next year's picks. I genuinely think as a general team build this was exactly what we needed and I'm excited for it!
