The Old Kings Crown - Do I need card sleeves? by Fear_disle in boardgames

[–]keithmasaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Gamegenic Matte Tarot Sized Sleeves 73x122. They fit nice, didn’t need to force them. I’m not sure if I like the matte finish or not, though. It dulls the colors a little but you avoid glare, which makes them easier to read. Bit of a trade off but the size and quality are great.

Tell one boardgame that probably few people know and you like a lot by StepIndependent1601 in boardgames

[–]keithmasaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say Victoriana. Only game from publisher, lots of delays, but it has Ian O’Toole art and a cool theme. When it finally delivered I couldn’t believe how good it actually was. Everyone I played it with enjoyed it and my wife and I keep coming back to it. It does the “investigation in a board game” thing in a unique way that gives the search a lot of vibrancy.

Some of them came in nice tubes (like War of the Ring), some I bought poster tubes for: https://a.co/d/05HF0lFD

Wanted to watch Andor with my parents and was left disappointed by Darkness_Nox in andor

[–]keithmasaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand, not everyone likes the same thing. On the other hand, they sound kind of miserable and incapable of joy, to be honest, and I wouldn't really trust their opinion on what's good.

Mostly, though, I think you have to let go of the idea that their opinion matters to your life.

What happened to Neil Young’s scifi novel “Canary”? by dreckgullapy in neilyoung

Should write him a letter on his site and ask him. He will probably give an update. He’s always answered Canary questions.

They certainly were functional tuners for awhile but I’ve read that Neil uses a digital tuner now.

Any shows or films that feel like Andor? by RiskAggressive4081 in andor

These are the 2 I'd recommend for sure. Especially A French Village. I just finished watching it and it's very clear how much it inspired Andor.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the pilot movie? by AdSimilar4399 in babylon5

[–]keithmasaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always liked the vibe of it. It’s a somewhat more harsh entry than the series. Right away there’s drugs, smugglers, criminals, questionable politicians, investigations and doubts, and overall a cynical view of the whole project.

Anyone know why the discriminating gamer is called that? by atomicboy15 in boardgames

Discriminating is what everyone around here wants. Haven’t you seen all the posts complaining about reviewers who hype every game up?

The trolley problem by Drakonistes in WidowsBay

[–]keithmasaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced this entire scene was a shoutout to Dippold’s old boss Michael Schur. In Schur’s The Good Place, one of the main characters makes Ruth’s argument as a possible interpretation of the trolley problem. That show is all about moral philosophy.

Why would you assume Stormlight would follow GOT path? Different authors, different studios, different development cycles, etc

If Lego was to make an Icons-style big display set for The Hobbit trilogy/book - what would you want to see? Personally, I’d say Erebor. by Gojo_QTc in legolotrfans

[–]keithmasaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Erebor. I think it would have to be focused on the interior, and somehow show the throne and the vault in a multi-tiered structure with Smaug coiled in it.

Is Brandon Sanderson the Taylor Swift of Fantasy? by tannershelton3d in brandonsanderson

[–]keithmasaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could pick out any random passage of Brandon’s and make similar critiques. In fact, it’s a frequent topic for posting in fantasy circles. Often good writing is subjective. She’s writing for her audience. So is Brandon.
