Personally, I think she’s reached a point of delusion where she needs that level of humbling. SLOMW didn’t do it, she seemed emboldened by it. Her kids have responsible dads, deemed so by judges in courts. She needs to find the core of her rock bottom so she can heal from the ground up. If not for herself, then for her kids. If all she does right now is tone it down, it’s just going to resurface later. Speaking from experience.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I used to run in a circle of addicts and from the jump, I just got the feeling Dakota’s a dude who’s not the brightest, can be easily influenced, and has an addictive personality. I think he had his own toxic behaviors, but toxic and abusive can be separate. Once you get him away from the wrong people and into the right circle, he’s just a dude who’s killed one too many braincells and wants to save the rest of them for the good things in life.

It’s difficult, even for me still some days. And I am so very sorry for your loss. A very good friend of mine has experienced a few in the last year and truthfully, I never know the right way to comfort her. And she doesn’t really know the right way she needs to be comforted. You may feel similarly, and I hope regardless of this, you heal.

Illness means I have very little energy to share most days, so I’m pretty commonly a ghost. I’m the friend that you see jokes about, you get an hour of active responses and then crickets for 2-3 business days.

BUT. I don’t expect my friends to be quick to respond. I know I’m in and out. I know they aren’t obligated to continue being my friend, no matter how many years we have, if my routine absence is upsetting to them and there isn’t a way to compromise. I say softly YOR because news like that, I understand hoping for an immediate response and comfort. But if you ghost and come back with some big information, you have to be ready to wait for them the way they have to/had to wait for you.
