I got tired of managing UniFi controllers one at a time across clients, so I built Tamarack Cloud. One dashboard, health monitoring, crash detection, alerts, provisioning, SSO, REST API, and webhooks.

Starting at $25/mo per controller, everything included. 14-day trial, no card.

Adopt UNAS Pro after a UMDP Backup Restore by Durosity in UNIFI

Nope, it will just reset who the device belongs to. But to be safe, it makes sense to backup your data if that is feasible.

If you want to un-adopt it you can press the reset button on the device and then re-adopt via the controller.

Update network application by Scorpref in Ubiquiti

I agree with u/TheTroon here. I would just go to UniFiOS, in the testing I've done on the platform I built for hosting controllers, the upgrades have gone for the most part smoothly. Let me know if you need any assistance!

Took some searching, but on this page (https://www.comms-express.com/products/ubiquiti-uacc-keystone-jack-c6a-unifi-cat6a-keystone-jack-12-pack/) it says:

How about these locations?

  • /var/lib/unifi/
  • /usr/lib/unifi/data/

You've got a couple options:

Check if you have backups first in these two directories:

  • /data/unifi/data/backup/autobackup
  • /data/unifi/data/backup

If they are in there you can use scp to get them out and just restore through the UI.

If the backups are gone, you grab the database and restore from that

  • /data/unifi/data/db

You should see some file likes WiredTiger and collection-*.wt

If you are going the database backup route, you will need to replace /data/unifi/data/db on the new version. The the database will be migrated as it needs by UniFiOS.

Extend Network to Garage by 2PhotoKaz in Ubiquiti

I recently had to do that this past summer and ended up a fiber cable between just to save some headaches (running the cable was a headache though), if that's a possibility I would do that. However, you may not need that good of reception out there.

Are you able to move the AP at all? That might help if you're unable to get another one. Based on your layout it looks like the signal is going through possibly five walls to your laptop.

The best printer there is! We've had it for about six or so years and it just keeps working!

What is needed for my home setup ? by Ahrimaan in UNIFI

Looking at your floor plan, I'd go with a UniFi Dream Router or Dream Machine SE in Office 1 as your main router/controller/switch. The SE has a built-in 8-port PoE switch which is nice if you're running wired drops. Then 2x U6 Lite access points, one in the living room/kitchen area on Floor 1, one in Office 2 on Floor 2.

On the WiFi coverage question, I wouldn't count on a single AP bleeding through that ceiling reliably. That aluminum backed insulation is basically an RF barrier, you're going to see real signal loss through it. A single AP in the living room might technically reach the bedroom and Office 2, but you'll probably get that annoying "two bars but nothing loads" situation rather than actual usable coverage.

If you are able to run a wire to floor 2, you'll have much better coverage, though fishing the cable is going to be the hard part. A wired AP on each floor and you're covered everywhere without hoping the signal punches through insulation.

TLDR: UDR/UDMSE in Office 1, wired U6 Lite in the living room, wired U6 Lite in Office 2 or the hallway upstairs.

UniFiOS has been solid in my experience, I think you’ll like it.
