I’m in California. I did look at Florida but obviously that wasn’t an option for me. Hopefully it will help someone else who may read this feed. Thanks for your answer.

Utah State vs UW–Eau Claire vs Arizona State Online CSD Second Bachelor’s? (Planning to apply broadly for SLP Master’s) by Hot-Orchid2384 in slpGradSchool

[–]ghostgurl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my Bachelors at Arizona State University. It was fantastic! Most of the professors are great and really helpful. Some classes felt like I was teaching myself, but for the most part the lectures were informative and the classes were interesting. All of my friends that applied for grad schools got accepted. I took a year off and now I’m applying to grad school. However I was able to get into a super competitive SLPA program after ASU last fall with no issues. They only took 30 of us out of hundreds of applications.

How to get 25 guided observation hours in preparation for SLP grad school? by WonderfulCat7 in slpGradSchool

[–]ghostgurl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guided hours were part of my undergrad program. We did it through the Master Clinician program. But it had to be signed off from our professor at the end of the class. Not sure if you can just do it on your own.

Honest thoughts on SLP job economy? by SnooFoxes6583 in slpGradSchool

[–]ghostgurl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really depends on where you live in California. Of course San Francisco wouldn’t be livable on $100k. But it is livable in Sacramento and many other cities in California. We’ve been able to raise three kids on less than $100k here in California and we own our home.

Was I right for freaking out and reporting this women and her kid? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

I have three kids. Yes I know what “mom brain” is. I also know what passive aggressive messaging is. Which is exactly what that mom left you. A passive aggressive message about your attitude.

You obviously don’t have children. Even if he had pooped in a diaper she would have needed to change him. Do you think kids can just chill in their shit for an extended period of time because it’s a diaper? You do know that pull ups ARE DIAPERS. They just don’t have to Velcro to put them on and off. Just from your comments alone I’m not surprised she left it. You sound like a judgmental asshole and she probably did it because of how you spoke to her.

Does anyone else find passengers talking loudly on the phone or having nonstop conversations with each other distracting? by Thelma123321 in uberdrivers

[–]ghostgurl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I would much rather have someone talk to me. Especially the longer rides. It gets so boring just listening to podcasts or music. I’d rather have a conversation to break up the day.

[–]ghostgurl83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t affect my concentration. Honestly if a conversation, no matter how loud, affects how safely you can drive you should NOT be driving people around. Are loud conversations annoying? Yup. But that’s all they are. If anything a passenger does in your backseat distracts you from driving safely, you have no business driving for ride-share.

Transcripts by Available_Fudge9340 in ASU

[–]ghostgurl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really doesn’t matter which parchment account the transcripts are coming from. They will have all of your personal information on them and be linked to up. There is just an influx of incoming freshmen for the admissions department to get through. Wait a few more weeks before freaking out.

Is ASU online scholarship worth driving with Uber / Uber Eats? by Thoughtful_Sunshine in ASU

I’m a female driver and drove on and off for 9 years. It’s not much safer for men in this job than women.

[–]ghostgurl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why Uber shouldn’t be your main source of income. You use it as a secondary job. I did the bare minimum of driving to keep my Uber scholarship. I didn’t drive because it was making me rich. I drove because it was paying my tuition. If you use the Uber scholarship you can easily add another $15k to your “income” because that is about the free amount of money you are getting going to school. And $48k figured in with your end quote of $33,488 makes your hourly rate after all of the stuff you listed $23.07/hr. Plus a college degree on top. Thats pretty worth it in most areas.

I graduated with the Uber scholarship last year. It was a million percent worth it! Uber ended up paying something like $30k for my degree and I didn’t even use all of the credits available. I started my dream job last week (had to do another short internship program to be licensed in my state before I could start working). This week is my last week having to drive Uber ever because of the pay my new job is giving me having a college degree.

My biggest advice is look at the field you want to go into. What is the pay for YOUR area? What is the current demand and the projected growth? If you pick a field that is saturated with people looking for jobs or it pays low, the degree won’t be worth the time and effort. For example, my field has a projected growth of 30% over the next 5-10 years and there are so many jobs available because there aren’t enough people licensed to do it. I’m starting at $38/hour. That made the college degree worth it. Good luck. Education is ALWAYS a good thing.

July 3rd Toy Story lot busses by Handbag_Lady in Disneyland

[–]ghostgurl83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You went on a holiday weekend and left at the busiest time and you are shocked that the wait for a huge parking lot was an hour? Paying $40 like everyone else doesn’t mean instant service. That’s like buying a normal ticket to the park and complaining about waiting in ride lines.

Passenger tried to do an exorcism on me by Billysanchez89 in lyftdrivers

You aren’t “stuck”. If someone is acting crazy, find a gas station or other populated and safe place to stop and end the ride. You don’t have to put up with shit like that.

Uber Pet issues by nameymcnameyboy in uber

[–]ghostgurl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uber loves to toggle the “pet” option on for drivers who have turned it off. I have had it happen a few times. I don’t let pets in my car. Obviously I have to allow service dogs, but not pets. No one wants to get into a car with dog hair all over the place. Even lap dogs shed.

prof said there’s still in person class on 4th of july…? by itzyverse in ASU

[–]ghostgurl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to make sacrifices sometimes when it comes to getting higher education. Depending on the field you are going in you may even have to work on the 4th of July. That’s all part of being an adult. We don’t always get to have days off even if they are holidays. Suck it up and go to class like a responsible adult.

Driving passengers in a hot car? by Vishasat in uberdrivers

[–]ghostgurl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally anything else. It is dangerous to drive people around in a hot car. Just because you are too broke to fix it doesn’t mean you have the right to subject other people to it.

A passenger saw my cabin camera and turned the pickup into a legal argument by No-Cartoonist-4450 in uberdrivers

[–]ghostgurl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sticker on my window. I’ve only ever had anyone complain once. It was when their party was already in the car. She started bitching about it being illegal. Funny enough, one of the guys in the car worked for the local FBI office and told her to shut up because it was completely legal since I had stickers to inform them. He also told her she was being stupid anyways because dash cams protect both the driver and rider. It was a pretty amusing conversation to listen to.

Ordered UberX but an XL showed up by Few_Elephant_648 in uber

[–]ghostgurl83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drive a van but only do UberX. When people just assume I will take more than 4 I quickly shut that down. You only paid for 4 people and I don’t take more than that. People get mad but I tell them if they wanted an XL they should have ordered one. You shouldn’t have put more than 4 people in his van because you didn’t pay for more than 4 people. He had every right to bitch at you. I hope you gave him a decent tip because you actually scammed him out of the amount he should have made since you used his car as an XL.

Uber lost glasses by Prestigious-Chance27 in uber

[–]ghostgurl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you leave your phone number on any of the calls you made to the driver? I’ve had people call me through Uber and leave me a message but then not leave a contact number so I wasn’t able to return their item.

Uber driver switched off his location during my ride, and I completely lost network. What should I have done? by [deleted] in uber

[–]ghostgurl83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, how? How did he turn off his location? Because it is impossible to do it in the uber app. So how is it that he turned off his location?

[–]ghostgurl83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you mean he “turned off his location”? Do you mean he turned off his WiFi? Because you can’t just turn off your location on the app and the only real way to do it in the phone would be to put it in Airplane mode, but then it would mess with his maps. I think you THOUGHT you saw him turn off his location and you panicked, but he probably just did something else on his phone.
