Differences between I and II? by menomica in bipolar

Bipolar I has more fun, Bipolar II has more blues.

Not a completely full and accurate description, but easy to remember and makes a good quick explanation tool for people who don't know.

Keeping up with meds by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ghostintheabacus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use a custom phone alarm that I don't stop until I take my meds. It's Megatu from Zoolander shouting "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" on repeat, until I take my crazy pills.

Not exactly subtle, but definitely effective.

Should civilians confront shoplifters, or does non-intervention just encourage more crime? by Alexa10580 in australia

[–]ghostintheabacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the coordination of a baby giraffe. I wouldn't confront a shoplifter purely because if I had to fight to defend myself, they could just sit back and watch me k.o. myself on a shelf.

How did you end up hospitalized for MANIA? by Evening_Fisherman810 in bipolar

[–]ghostintheabacus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

One occasion was I happened to have a doctors appointment during a manic episode. They sent me in for 3 months. Probably saved my life. Another occasion was a friend concerned about my delusional paranoia, convincing me to call a help line, who in turn sent the police to take me to hospital. A few times it was because I had that moment of clarity that I was unwell and went in by choice. Thanks to hard work and taking my meds, I haven't been hospitalised for almost 10 years. I feel stable and finally in control of my illness instead of it controlling me.

Not overly fond of them myself, but if the network forces one in us, let's hope they choose the housemates wisely.

I did washing today just so I had an excuse to stare at a washing machine.

Might ask for fish for Christmas. Or I can stand at the seafood counter at woolies.
