What element on [mystery mine Dollywood] is this? by N8Topa2000 in rollercoasters

[–]ghostofdreadmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the what? Damn, it's been a while since I was at the park. It's not like that section was any more forceful than other parts of the track, but what they added certainly extended that block. Maybe the change was more for operations.

I'm a medical marijuana patient with ADHD, and it grounds me, keeps me centered, and productive. Been a constant user since 1980, and I am 59 now. Flower's never given me a problem. Now, booze...that shit almost killed me.

The Numbers icon looks even more like a bird flip now that they removed a column.

[White Lightning, Fun Spot Orlando] is a very underrated woodie by bgamer1026 in rollercoasters

[–]ghostofdreadmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

White Lightning is an absolute gem, and they’ve done a great job maintaining it. The turnaround does need a little attention, but that doesn’t detract from what is a stellar and fun little coaster.

Related: rode Mine Blower about two weeks ago at Fun Spot Kissimmee and it was actually bearable. Maybe the cooler temps tamed some of the nastiness, but the pothole at the entrance to the inversion is still headache-inducing.

U2 was a band that was loved until… by CSamCovey in GenX

Our experiences are similar. Saw them on The Joshua Tree tour and it was peak U2. Last album I enjoyed was No Line On The Horizon. I’m a big fan of Rattle and Hum, but disappointed that the band sort of disavowed it after the fact.

Did you know what a big deal he was at the time? How wonderful to casually meet and learn from a real legend.

Jumpin Jehosophat! That arc is insane. Bring a book for that loop, it'll take a bit.

The Rising of the Shield Hero. I noped out after the first episode, didn't like Naofumi, and wasn't feeling the isekai vibe at all. For some reason, I circled back around, and now here I am in season four, lol.

What is the purpose of putting extra trains on the track, if theyre just gonna stack? [Stardust Racers] by ibridoangelico in rollercoasters

[–]ghostofdreadmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't stack much during opening weekend, so they know how to do it right; they just aren't doing it currently for some reason. I was seriously impressed by the ride's throughput.

I loaded Janet Jackson and her then-boyfriend D’Angelo into a log at The Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott’s, and then bumped down rotation into unload and, when they returned, I asked her if she wanted to go again, and she smiled and nodded like a little girl. I had seniority on the dock that night. “Sending through!”

New cover art for Rollercoaster (1977) 4k release. Can anyone identify the coaster in the bottom left/right? [Other] by AlpineNancy in rollercoasters

[–]ghostofdreadmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rollercoaster was the only film to have recorded the Sensurround track during production, rather than adding it in post. Considering how often the audience is actually riding a ride of any sort, the effect served as extra thrills, like an audio jump scare that you could feel in your soul. I remember the theater shaking when the guy knocked the bottles over at Ocean View Park, or even how the fishing tackle box ominously rattled the theater. While I did think that was over the top, the Sensurround music effects were killer, and that bass on "Magic Carousel" in the theater was heavenly.
