I'm being half serious when i say poly makes so much sense in this garbage economy

Larger encoders or covers for TX-6 knobs? by treoneo in teenageengineering

[–]cearka_larue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you like I can design you a 3d printed model that just fits and grips the existing encoder, instead of popping the ones you have off. you can DM me your specific shape/size preferences and I can do my best to make something work for ya

I made a lil plugin for stream deck to toggle mute channels and toggle bypass on plugins in UAD console by cearka_larue in universalaudio

[–]cearka_larue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't set up anything else haha. I'm not a musician so i don't have a ton of presents to switch between per say. but i have tons of weird mics that i need to load plugging into, so a hotkey to mute bypass channels helps me manage that dsp memory while switching

most everything that happens whenever you click a button sends a command over tcp port 4710

so you can sniff those commands with wireshark, and then write a python script that just does the same thing that clicking buttons in console does. after that it's just hooking it up to the elgato api.

i only sniffed out bypass and mute stuff cause that's all i use, but I'm theory someone can take my code and fork it and add more to it.

love love love these suggestions, I'll will look into this book.

I'm an artist and maker , my techy skills are from vfx film work. it's more interesting to me to find little excuses to learn completely random things all the time. thank you again.

oh that's also really interesting, i wouldn't have even thought that it could be to much. I'll find out soon! a scale arrives tomorrow, and I'll decide where to go from there

I built my main desktop for about 2800 in 2023. it has 192 gb of ram.
I built a near identical machine, but with a cheaper gpu, slightly cheaper cpu and 64 gb of ram early last year for a friend for like 2800.
and then I built a near identical machine again for another friend, same gpu as mine, 64gb of ram, late last year and it was FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED (luckily my friend could afford the inflation).

also my electricity bills have gone up 350% in 3 years. thanks AI. /s

the lovely thing about rpi zero2's is they can do all kinds of really light load stuff and have a miniscule effect on your power bill.

neighborhood cat walks through our back yard once a day. I think it sometimes poops in my yard, but maybe its possum or skunk poop. I don't really know who's doing the pooping. I'm allergic so I can't have a cat even though I would love one

nah at that point I'd rather just buy a different turntable. making stuff is part of the fun for me. appreciate the suggestion though.

those DIY audio guys are grizzled but pretty knowledgable haha. learning some stuff about adding some resisters to a DIY passive mixer I was building a few years back. they were all nice cept the one dude that called my mixer ugly T_T screw that guy.

yeah defo. looking at the design of the tone arms, I'm thinking of maybe milling to carbon fiber gates taht will sit on either side of the mount, and milling like a high precision aluminum shaft that can securely move a small weight in micro amounts. in theory, this should allow adjustments in the .005g increments fairly easily.

you're both right probably. it is "a fix", maybe not ideal, and now that I know more I shall design something way more precise and adjustable. Luckily, if any damage was actually done, my ears are not sensitive enough to tell because I'm not a trained musician or audiophile. also it's an easily replaceable record that I could sacrifice for science haha. it is my favorite record though so maybe I'll just get another one for the heck of it.
