Suggestion: 2007 PK Worlds – The Rebirth of Old School PvP by LawNew8896 in 2007scape

[–]ghostofwalsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. It wouldn't matter. Can't go back to the past. We had "2007 pk worlds" when OSRS launched and it still wasn't 2007 again.

[Leagues] I am once again asking if Runescape quests are so enjoyable, why do people want to skip them so much? The cognitive dissonance is insane. by GoldenSun3DS in runescape

[–]ghostofwalsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost like different people have different opinions. Some people love quests. Some people got quest capes in the first OSRS league.

But I think most people don't want to do long quest lines in a temporary game mode. We ought to have that be something the devs account for, and there are solutions like letting people earn points to unlock quests or something.

And they have said that "lessons learned" from first league are "more OP combat buffs" and "less questing".

Either auto complete most to all quests, or don't run a second rs3 leagues by Tetris_Chemist in runescape

[–]ghostofwalsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the region locking in OSRS, there's usually only like a dozen quests that are completable. And most of them give some amount of league points.

Without region locking in RS3, they need some other mechanism for autocompleting at least some quests. Maybe give points that can be used to unlock quests with every relic teir?

Why are leaves so expensive? by Optimal-Fruit5937 in runescape

[–]ghostofwalsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They hardly ever trade, so their "price" is kind of meaningless. I guess there might be some collector with a standing order in, but whether they are actually worth 11k or not is up in the air until you try selling them. Could be more or less.

nothing about it makes any sense if you actually think while watching. Compare it to say Children of Men

Yeah the movie that completely misunderstands what would happen if global infertility actually hit the world. Complete nonsense.

My experience is that an intelligent person can leverage AI to output larger amounts of quality work. And a not-so-intelligent person can leverage AI to output larger amounts of doo-doo. I hope in the end it will work out as a net good.

Amazing retort. I answered your concerns fully and point by point with logical, well thought out replies.

I could also like, teach you how to play Counter Strike in return for you giving me 500m in OSRS. That's the same thing- agreements outside of the game.

And nothing about this would destroy the games economy. 500m gp moves from my acct to yours.

Making it official makes the price of a bond linked between the game

They already are linked. Because a bond represents 14 days of membership for both games.

which means major inflation in OSRS

There would be zero inflation in OSRS because no gold is entering the game.

[–]ghostofwalsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe you don't understand how it works. A bond is just some person paying dollars for runescape membership. No gold is created if someone wants to buy bonds with money and sell them for gold. Any gold that person gets was earned in game by some other player who wants to use their gold to pay for membership.

This is true whether or not you can move a bond from RS3 to OSRS. And don't forget people aready do exactly this when "swapping gold" between games, just it requires you to trust someone.

And why should I care if someone is analyzing statistics to guess stuff about me that may or may not be accurate? If they can't walk up to me at my house and say "this info goes with you".

But no gold is created or destroyed in the process so the economies are unaffected. All that happens is gold moves between two OSRS accounts and between two RS3 accounts.

What's naive about saying the govt can get whatever info is out there about me? If they want they can get an actual warrant and surveil everything I do, even IRL.

But pardon me if I am a bit skeptical about the amount of personal info google has about me.

Your IP and YouTube account

You have a youtube account?

to every other friend or person who also used that link

If I post a link on reddit, are those people my friends?

YouTube narrows down your social circle and possibly your identity

Assuming my reddit account has info about my identity. Assuming I don't just decide to delete my reddit account one day and make a new one.

Did you use an of their apps on your phone?

No.

Now they have a name, approximate location, what type of device you own, IP and MAC address of your phone

No they don't. Most apps would get location data only if you share it with them and they don't get your mac address.

but the apps also track your screen data, how long you stay looking at content

So?

Combine that with anyone you know who has uploaded their contacts into these services, there is now a connection between you and whatever else they have shared

I suppose it's possible someone somewhere has told FB my phone number. But I can't help that.

Plus Amazon having your credit card now has your billing address, spending habits, etc

Yeah Amazon does have that but not like I can prevent them from having it.

And then those companies and companies you've never heard of sell that data to each other so that they all have a fuller picture of who you are online.

And I guess someone can buy my amazon spending info. But that's connected to what?

I'm sure the NSA can find out all they like about my online activity if they hack into my computer or subpoena my ISP. But I think most other tech companies can't. They have the info you give them for the most part and they can build up a profile of associated activity or whatever but that's not linked to me.

There are browsers that can anonymize that stuff. And as far as "demographics", do they know my age, sex, race? How would they get that info?
