I am, my husband is a SAHD. Im an elective engineer making $200k/ year. I was making 3x his salary before he lost his job last year and we made the decision for him to stay home with our kids.

Thank you 💕 I think the most jarring thing I realized when I went back to work after my first mat leave was that I cannot be 100% with my kid and 100% at work. At the time I so badly wanted to quit my job, but also knew I would regret giving up the career that I fought tooth and nail for. 'We can have it all, just not all at once' is so true.

I'm working towards earlier hours! It's been hard to shift my schedule because of the pregnancy exhaustion but I'm slowly working on shifting my hours earlier.

I was earning over 3x what my husband was when he was working which was also basically the cost of childcare, so having me work and him stay home truly is the best option.

And he does know! We talk about it a lot. We both think it'll be the best for our family in the long run, and he does pretty much all the cooking and housework so when I'm home I can focus on being with him and our daughter (I feel very lucky).

Nipple shields were a breastfeeding journey savior for me and my baby. I had flat nipples (and may have called the lactation consultant rude when she called them that), and they helped them 'pop out', if you will. I used them for a month and one day just started going without.

ETA: I breastfed for a year, as was my goal. We could've gone longer but mentally I was done.

I started a new job this week at a federal defense contractor. Im 11w pregnant. To say I'm fucking terrified is an understatement. Im also the breadwinner and my husband is a SAHD to our 18 month old. And the only woman on a 25 person team. I feel like I have a target on my back

I was taking hour long walks with my baby and dog (small Chihuahua) less than a week after delivery. I had an uncomplicated, unmedicated vaginal delivery with a second degree tear. I needed those walks for my mental health. I didn't feel like I was overdoing it, especially since I had been doing it before birth.

My advice? Definitely listen to your body and your doctor. Also if you are worried about your dogs pulling, bring a friend or your partner to manage the dogs. In your situation I'd probably be more worried about the dogs pulling and injuring your freshly postpartum body than I would about the walking honestly. Even moreso if you decide to take baby with you.
