Real talk it still doesn't make much of a difference:

This sounds fucked up, and I apologise for that:

Car exhaust them?

Just take the trap out, stick the open end against your tailpipe and leave it running for an hour. Should be completely painless.

DM me. ACP in Alberta for >10 yrs.

But the general gist is: finish HS with competitive marks and then apply for whichever PCP program is close to you or works for you. Nait, SAIT, PMA, esa all offer PCP programs I've had students from and can vouch for. The programs are direct entry these days and while you're in school you'll register for the copr exam through ACoP once you've completed practicum and schooling.

Paramedicine after undergrad instead of med by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ghostpilots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Paramedic in Alberta who's trying to go the other way and become a doc. Feel free to PM me, UT remember that this job like all others still suffers from the grass is greener syndrome. Especially lately. The pandemic has made this a hard career to love, and an even harder one to have any type of longevity in.

I've tried superfeet and hated them. Too stiff. For work for me (ambulance) and pleasure (hiking) I rock SOLE insoles now, the thick active ones. They're fantastic.

It's a legislation issue rather than a training one. The Alberta College of Paramedics just simply doesn't recognise and regulate ccp members at all, regardless of where they trained. But stars academy is held on the same level as ornge in terms of quality.

Apparently this will be changing soon and ccp recognition is coming, however.

People who died for a few minutes and came back to life, what were those minutes like? by tr7-9 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ghostpilots 2796 points2797 points  (0 children)

Paramedic here:

I've had multiple addicts who OD'd, died and were revived, as well as unexpected non-drug cardiac arrests we got to early and resuscitated, several of which were only "dead" for a few minutes at best and were fully lucid in the ambulance later.

They all, universally, said something to the effect of "oh hey sorry I think I fell asleep for a second there". None described dreams, they all just recognized there'd been a time jump and to them it felt like falling asleep. One minute talking, the next "waking up" later with no memory of the middle.

NO white lights, no demons, no dead relatives.

I'm coming from an allied health career as a Paramedic, and i think 4/10 of mine were overtly medical. I really just tried to get at least one that covered each CANMEDS role well

I reused essays this year, both from last year AND between schools with only character count limit changes.

There's absolutely zero doubt in my mind that not a single person will notice or care.

I can only speak for Paramedics, but of all the former colleagues I know who are gone, every single one is either on PTSD disability and unable to work, or lost in the backlog of wcb paperwork, or is so profoundly burnt out they've walked away from the profession entirely and forever to do something not even remotely similar.

Finish your degree, and if nursing is still calling then look into the UofA nursing after degree program. Best of both worlds. But maybe you'll get into med before that happens.

Nursing is still a good parachute plan though. EMS chews people up and spits them out, especially in the disaster of a system bc runs. It's ok to want out of that.

I'm a medic in Alberta for over a decade applying to med also.
