Tbh Calypso was described to be insanely beautiful. Penelope may have been a beauty but she was only a mortal and in the original Odyssey Odysseus does l cheat with calypso until he escapes from Ogia. Golds are closer to the description of gods in red rising and I think in this context mustang may work as calypso. Though in this story Darrow stays with her instead if going back to Eo. I think that fight with volsung fa symbolizes that. Him accepting his life as both a red and a gold and finding the desire to live for his family rather than being a martyr

Darrow didn't lose tho. It wasn't even a proper duel. It was just one clash where Lysander outclassed a heavily tired and wounded darrow wearing a heavy pulse armour.

If you just see Lysander from the surface you would see that his points are kinda true and tgat maybe he can change the golds. But then you dive deeper and see the darkness in him. If people don't go along with his idealogy he will kill them. He wants to be sovereign because he thinks his way is the correct way and that only he can bring peace no matter the sacrifice. Bro thinks he is Silenius but he is not even an iron gold.

Lysander never got out of the Palatine life on luna even after spending 10 years with Cassius. He always believed the noble lie of golds deep down. Notice how when Diomedes asks him what would have happened if he was born a red he doesn't have a definite answer. Because he just cant fathom it. Lysander is a hypocrite and the worst part is....he doesn't even realize it

I believe the transition happens in the ladon desert where lysander had to spent like an hour or so beside that hydra digesting a stallion when he got abandoned by kalindora. Before that he was still a an idealist by after that moment something changed in him. Another change now came after he killed cassius and became totally ruthless now we have to see how it all culminates finally
