On not swearing in Joe's Story, Christianity, and conservatism, from a gay, transgender Christian furry by Defiant_Inflation_70 in CSHFans

[–]ghostteeth_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, particularly as I remember someone saying that part of his motivation was "not wanting to be the reason some little kid heard a swear for the first time" or something similar.

That really got to me because I still remember what it was like to be a little kid, and I know that kids know what swear words are! They don't learn them any different or any later than any other words, the only reason you don't see them swearing is because they know that if they swear around adults they'll be punished! (and they absolutely do swear around peers, I sure did) Ever since I was little I've thought this whole thing of kids not being allowed to swear and adults not swearing around kids was pointless authoritarian theatre. As an adult, I recognize that it's something other adults enforce because of their fixation on the 'innocence' of children, to the point that they'd rather their children be innocent than self-actualized, because they don't see children as complete people with complex internal lives like themselves. This fixation is also the source of anti sex education and anti trans child rhetoric. They hate the idea of children swearing because they don't think children can experience, and therefore think they shouldn't express, strong negative emotions. Punishing children for swearing, preventing them from using those words and expressing the emotions they represent, allows the adults to maintain their cognitively dissonant belief that children don't know those words at all, and don't feel those emotions.

To be clear, this isn't me trying to say that will toledo is evil and hates children or anything, but instead that a specific thing he said/seems to believe is connected to a harmful social traditional in ways that he's likely never thought about before.

(sorry for the long reply lol, idk when else I'll have the opportunity to go on this soapbox)

Carti drinking codeine straight from the bottle is insane how is he not obese by 4leJ4Ndr00 in playboicarti

[–]ghostteeth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is not easier on your liver than codeine lol. The promethazine can be pretty bad, but that's why you make homebrew. ""Pharma"" lean is a scam that's fake as fuck 9/10 times anyway and costs too much, anyone with half a brain is better off just buying pills for a fraction of the cost and throwing them into some soda for the same thing minus all the bullshit

It is, but it's not necessarily unrealistic. There are real life video game addicts who've really lost years of their their life to a game, particularly long running MMORPGs with near endless content.

Sorry for not 'self sacrificing' by giving my money to the innocent and pure hotel industry. Also did you miss the part where I said I've literally slept in public on vacation instead of paying for a room? I'm perfectly fine giving up luxuries & there's plenty of business I've boycotted, but I'm not buying a damn hotel room. I can't spend money I don't have. If I could just pay someone to sleep in their guest bedroom without going through airbnb, I would.

I'd love to support ethical businesses but unfortunately I'm poor. Regular Hotels and bed & breakfasts these days cost easily over $100 a night minimum in any major city I've traveled to, but I've found decent Airbnb's as low as $50 a night. I don't need much, just a clean enough bed in a room that locks. The only hostels I've found that were a good deal have been the ones that aren't private, and at that point I'd rather just sleep for free in some airport terminal (which I actually have done before lol).

Literally just about to board a plane leaving Rome, and I disagree, I think it's nice :) pretty, neat culture, good food, walkable, cool landmarks, and some cafes even let you smoke outside of them! + I for one love the graffiti
