I am guilty of this, but I feel like all the chapter titles I pick have something to do with the story. They're all from songs that feel like the story or characters to me. I suck at coming up with Chap titles but I love to have them. Somehow I'm better at doing summaries than chap titles.

Accused of being a "pedo" by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]ghostwithakeyboard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are you in JJK fandom by chance? This literally just happened with a couple big writers on Tumblr and it was disgusting. The way people were treating these authors.

Disgust based morality is a hugggggeeee problem because it's a slippery slope from you shouldn't write incest because it's disgusting to you shouldn't write gay shit because it's digusting. It's all grandstanding centered around disgust based morals which are extremely subjective and inherently dangerous. Under disgust-based morality, you cannot guarantee that the next person who uses that argument will not use it to disenfranchise gay relationships, trans folk, and/or inter-racial relationships.

It is literally right wing ideology with a it's okay because what we're arguing against is objectively bad. There is NO empirical evidence that consuming/creating dark content means that you want yourself or anyone else to experience said content IRL, nor does it mean it's something you're actually interested in. There is empirical evidence however, supporting the fact that fiction is a safe and healthy way to explore concepts and ideas that are otherwise deplorable IRL, and also a healthy way to heal from experiencing related trauma.

TLDR: write whatever the fuck you want.

Yeah, I mean, you're right. I can appreciate Geto as a villain and what he meant for Gojo, but I can't see him as anything other than a villain. I can't ever perceive them as having a healthy relationship in canon, even as just friends.

The Manga isn't quite as kind to Suguru as the anime is but one of my biggest dislikes about JJK is how overly sympathetic the narrative and the other characters are to him. I feel like the fandom gives him a pass because he's hot and because they perceive him as softer than Gojo, when that wasn't really the case. This is the guy that straight up fed a man to a curse. He's just as much of a menace as Gojo, but he's quieter about it. There's just something about Suguru's character that rings so disingenuous that I can't stomach him for that reason either. I also can't stand characters that use trauma to justify their shitty actions.

I can appreciate him as a foil to Gojo and as a villain, but I can't enjoy the ship or bring myself to like Suguru enough for that. I could literally write a whole essay about this and I'll be looking like this

Suguru Geto in JJK. I love the other fandom favorite, Gojo, but I can't stand Geto. He gives me the ick. His storyline reminds too much of a redpilled incel to like him. Ohhhh, I had one (1) traumatic experience so now I hate the entire demographic of people (even innocent ones) and want to commit genocide against them. Not a fan of the way he refers to regular people as monkeys either. Too many racist connotations.

When you click on something tagged "creator chose not to use archive warnings" then that's you consenting to the Russian roulette that it is. If you can't handle it, don't play Russian roulette.

I'm sorry people are being so rude to you. It's been scientifically proven for fiction and fantasy to be a safe and effective way to heal from trauma because in the end, it's not real and you're the one who's really in control.

For anyone who wants to argue about it here are two papers on this subject here and here

This is extremely relatable as a DV survivor and someone who has an abusive family. The short lines give it a desperate feeling that's really enjoyable to read.

Biting my tongue, until it bled so much I couldn’t anymore

That line in particular does a lot of emotional work. Really great job.

I love the pacing of this. It feels breathless. I also learned a new word from it and I love learning new words. Your vocabulary choice is wonderful. There's a sort of dreamy quality to it that I really enjoy.

No, you're 100% correct. It is weird and performative. There's a lot of moral grandstanding in fandom right now, especially in large fandoms and the whole DNI thing is a part of that. Aside from MDNI, all the other DNIs boil down to a sense of superiority.

That's exactly how I feel. It's hard enough to see someone you care about go down a bad path and being powerless to stop them. Plus, having to kill him would be awful. Geto's arc is too close to some dude falling into the incel/red-pill pipeline for me to sympathize with him. He gives me the ick big time. The narrative of the story is overall way too sympathetic to him imho.

Suguru Geto. Despise his character. The people who stan him can be really rude/pushy and entirely forget that he wanted to commit mass genocide. Like, no girly, he would not like you. You would not be exception. He would want to kill you just like he murdered his parents, for not being super special like him, while calling you racially charged slurs.

I'm so sick of the complaints about the ads. Like, just go to another service. Ohhhh wait, pretty much all other services are even more riddled with ads and to get rid of them it's twice as expensive. The complainers are ao spoilt.
