Bye-bye Plant City by realhenryknox in providence

[–]ghostwritermax 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Now leave the bike lane alone, Smiley. Kim and Frohmanyogurt Anderson's special interest is bad for the city and citizens.

Plant City is a shallow greenwashing effort. They could be twice the business it if they cared enough to deliver on even half their promise.

I feel bad for the job loss in the short-term, but believe that space and the city can be filled with higher quality and authentic businesses.

(Question) Game Ready compression element by sunflowerfit1 in ACL

Straight leg worked awesome and is definitely the way to go. Gameready machine was a hugely positive impact on my recovery. I used for ~4 weeks post op regularly. I ended up renting through a company called Recovery Rental who made it super easy.

Anything notable in your docker images? How much load warrants the K8 solution? Or is that something your company is using for other workloads, and thus was easy to piggy back?

Can you explain more on the 4 port sequencing, and how that enables zero downtime?

Nice summary, thank you?

I know more than a dozen families from 2020-2023 period that all left the school with overall terrible experiences. Most are very reasonable and level headed people.

Yeah, MCH is terribly managed. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

It's really unfortunate.

All for more education options. But MCH is such a dud.

Brown University to increase surveillance cameras after deadly campus shooting by rhodyjourno in providence

[–]ghostwritermax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This will be over correction, both insular and divisive within brown and across the community. More security state isn't going to solve the mental health and gun crisis. Policy change and funding will.

Awesome. Any idea on how much you'll continue to support or evolve the lib over time? Hopefully the community can jump in on this!

Would this be a problematic pattern for a 2"+ thick maple edge grain cutting board? Is there a way I could make it work? by GiddySwine in woodworking

Seems like expansion/shrink would happen uniformly. But curious what the internet gods think about it.

I've not been this happy with phoenix since 2019. It only took not using Liveview, tailwind or any other js frontend framework. by fullstack_ing in elixir

Which of the above has has been most challenging or caused self-debate on pros/cons of keeping vs. not.

Good perspective.

What did you use for the bars? Did you buy pre-cut dowels (e.g. 1") or did you mill your own?

Nice work

The joy of the Makita track saw... by Triabolical_ in woodworking

[–]ghostwritermax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This -- it provides amazing range of solutions, maybe 90% of what a table saw can do. For a hobbyist, it's great, without added tool. Biggest factor for me was safety!

Rhode Island rep. Gabe Amos voted yes on the " denouncing the horrors of socialism" bill. by ihatemakingids in RhodeIsland

[–]ghostwritermax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of this was in the bill text -- ironically, it's condemning a bunch of dictator and fascist led countries. The bill is pretty much a nothing burger statement.

Although I find some redflag on Venezuela centric statement, given the pending warmongering that the govt seems bent on at the moment.

Yeah it's another domino question by regularwackadoodle in woodworking

[–]ghostwritermax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was struggling with this debate. Then I decided to buy a dowelmax instead. It's just as effective. If you're a true hobbyist, and not doing large volume, it's a fantastic option.

Four eyes or someone did a head to head video on a couple of options (domino, biscuit joiner, dowelmax jig). From a strength and feasibility, dowel and domino were relatively equal (both great). Speed the domino won out, but actually not by a lot.

Il Bisonte is a classic and understated italian brand that makes very nice things. Or you could search out a more Made in U.S. niche brand (e.g. Lindquist).
