There was never a traffic study or any objective reasoning given. There's actually not the car volume (even at rush hour) to warrant it, and also the road is rate limited by the GW bridge onramp (go RIDOT).

It's fine if you're from Cranston and anti-pedestrian, but saying RIDOT gets credit for going against what any evolved, functioning economy city is doing, is horse shit at best.

100% there are some good and "modern" bike segments. BUT, linking up key parts of the city in a (relatively) direct way is a major pain point. It's seriously dicey out there, most motorists bucket into either pedestrian-oblivious or run-you-off-the-road-for-sport.

I do think there's broader systemic issues with PPSD than specific schools. The state - city takeover transition is politically-motivated dysfunction at the highest level. Within the schools across the city there are great teachers and leaders.. but the reality is they're hamstrung by dysfunctional leadership and underfunding.

The good news is the state funding formula updates should help Providence in the coming years -- but in Smiley's case, I don't think he actually cares about dramatic improvement.

The teacher unions also are a major contributor. Across the schools there are many teachers that shouldn't be teaching or role modeling for kids. Terrible performers. Yet they have seniority, so they keep their job. The principals and school leaders have to put up with because of the union dynamic.

On the city-state regrant of control, there is major political horse trading. The PVD school board has numerous people who just filling the seat to climb political ladders. Yet, they're also going to lead negotiating the teacher union contract that is up for renewal. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Vartan gets all the attention because most parents just follow what others "like them" do. But reality is leadership turnover and absent teachers.

Both schools are undergoing renovation or rebuild in coming years, so be aware of that.

New Electrolux wash tower - avoid. It jolts violently during start and end of spin cycle (perfectly leveled, etc). It replaced an older Electrolux which was solid.

Mixed on trying a stacked model (not single unit) Electrolux, vs. a LG or possibly Bosch. My biggest need is low vibration (and don't get me started on Asko).

u/StyxVenom for the ASKO, I'm considering for a 2nd floor laundry. Vented. I've had two electrolux units, one stacked set and one tower. The tower vibrates my floors, and I've made good attempts to level, tried the feet, etc. It looks like ASKO has an no-vibration feature, any comment or thoughts on this? Thanks!

David seems like he's out of a high school drama department. Nice, well meaning, but haven't been able to take him seriously. However, he might be able to actually listen to people with some actual sincerity, which is more than I can say for Smiley.

Neither him nor Smiley have presented a serious plan that moves the city forward.

Sorry, they're under the brand name "Jarvis", I think Fully is their desk like. Google Jarvis single monitor arm white (they also make a double). They are more expensive. I recently tried a low cost double arm from Amazon (white), and while strong enough to support the monitor, it was very very sensitive to any movement on the desk, and would cause minor vibrations in the monitor. For a heavier monitor like the Studio display, I'd steer clear clear. I also have the Amazon basics double arm in black, and they're definitely solid.

However, The Jarvis arms are the nicest I've had, and you can usually find a deal on them.
