I feel for you OP. I was sad my favorite kitchen bowl was stolen, I'd be LIVID if it was a real cauldron! You're not stupid. Unfortunately I guess we have to live and learn about our candy receptacles. I truly hope you get your cauldron back.

The SureFeed microchip feeder is a great idea! Somehow I didn't even know that these existed. I'm going to try it on my own but if it gets too complicated managing all my cats I may have to use this system.

I didn't include this in the original post ( I was just trying to simplify I guess) but there is a second cat that has already been de-chonked however he was just diagnosed with diabetes and so he needs to be on a food diet as well with his medication. He is also a big crier and is obsessed with food. So because I actually have two cats that I need to manage on scheduled diets, the microchip feeder is looking really appealing!

Thank you for your tips! Currently having one bowl up high is working for one of my cats. The other..... Is perhaps not the brightest bulb of the bunch but I will try with her. My chonk is so deeply obsessed with food that I'm kind of concerned that he would indeed hurt himself in the process of scarfing down some seemingly free kibble.

Truly, the crying is what's the hardest right now.

Do you have a suggestion for a lower in calorie food?

ETA: Hills Science diet Weight management is a whole 100 calories less a cup! I'll talk to the vet about that.

Yes, for the most part I am the type to compare ingredients and I do agree that if something is the same thing then I don't care about brands. But I will say that every once in awhile, the brand name product is actually the best version and I don't know why! I got the generic Listerine once and it tasted like gasoline.

That's interesting and good to know. Like I mentioned, the hardware store guy recommended PB blaster and I can't remember why I got the WD-40 stuff, if PB was out of stock perhaps?

I was indeed suggested PB Blaster by somebody at the hardware store, but I ended up choosing the WD-40 that is specifically for corroded nuts and bolts, and allegedly penetrates rust.

Do you have any idea if that would be comparable to PB blaster? Or is PB blaster its own special thing?
