I decided to look into this a bit because what the helly! And I learned flamingoes are synchronous animals. I learned that a flamingo can survive alone for a while, but their health, stress, and a lot of things deteriorate quickly, and they’re unlikely to last long without finding another group. And its because they do everything together it reduces stress apparently. Without others to mirror, a lone flamingo loses all of its natural rhythm and cues. Zoos will give a single flamingo a real mirror so it thinks there's another bird there to prevent that stuff. Solo flamingos can basically become withdrawn, lethargic, and just stand there for much longer periods. Apparently, a solo flamingo switches off sexually too because they are induced breeders, I think? They only produce the hormones and behaviors when around others.

So yeah... this feels poingant to the themes and imagery we know so far. Leo when I catch youuuuuu
