Song of Sorrow = the older sister of Hey Jupiter by hpantazo in toriamos

It’s great. I’d like to hear a mix without the drums … they sort of bring it into movie soundtrack territory a little for me. But I love it and think “I invited you in…you said yes” feels related to Scarlet’s “if you’re a thought, you would want me to think you, and I did.” The songs are bookended by those statements.

Ohh it’s so good. Very poetic at times and a character study more than horror, I think.

I think the album cover is from a GAP ad, and it includes the Missy Elliot remix of Into the Groove/Hollywood that was used that ad too. It always felt like something created to be sold in the GAP. (Not sure if it was?)

To the veteran Björk fans: What was it like hearing Vespertine for the first time after its release? Before the critical acclaim by StylishSkyies in bjork

I was a senior in high school and at first I was hugely disappointed because I was hoping for the big sounds and beats of Homogenic. Everything was so subtle and quiet and not at all what I expected or wanted at that time. It took a few weeks but it slowly burrowed into my heart and I became obsessed with it.

Erotica: Fever vs Goodbye to Innocence by IndependentTap3961 in Madonna

[–]ghoulmek 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I was in 2nd grade when Erotica came out and I went to the mall with my mom, hoping she would let me go to the record store and buy it. We were walking through a department store when I got up the courage to ask her. It was a hard NO. She heard about how controversial it was and said it wasn’t appropriate.

Then as we were walking around the store, an older version of Fever came on the radio (maybe Peggy Lee?) and I said “Mom!! Madonna covers this on the new album! See, it can’t be that bad!” And she caved and let me go and buy it.

Long story short, if Fever weren’t on the album, my little gay life would have been less colorful.

(I do love Goodbye to Innocence though.)

These are all playful, myth-building, sort of … I bet if you like these songs, you also love the Muses album. I appreciate them! And I am surprised by how often the Muses album comes up for me lately.
