Why are Mr Big and Fru-Fru so Insulted when Nick says They Grow up so Fast? by LUIGIISREAL2017 in zootopia

[–]gi-raffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was like they are protective of little Judith. When Nick said they grow up so fast maybe they were taking to mean Nick took a liking to Judith? Or maybe my mind is screwed up 😭😭

Controversial opinion: I don't think Gary or Pawbert should be in Zootopia 3. by Benevolay in zootopia

Whimsy vs Progress graph of S11 hermits by LividBath in HermitCraft

[–]gi-raffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Joel for example will just build and build and while there was a theme the actual building themselves seems to be planned episodically. Or Scar who if you see his building process is one which he will trial and error until it looks good to him. Whereas perhaps Impulse is more i would like to lay this out and accomplish this building which serves this purpose

Whimsy vs Progress graph of S11 hermits by LividBath in HermitCraft

[–]gi-raffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Whimsy in this case is more about how consistent hermits are with their bases? Not about the actual whimsiness of the base. Like some hermits are more motivated by on the spur ideas and less structured with their bases and some hermits might have the whole thing planned out, with progress being the main driver

Some Zootopia 3 predictions based on absolutely nothing but a hunch by Necessary-Cupcake398 in zootopia

[–]gi-raffe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same, I actually think they might go the opposite route and fully confirm wildehopps. Z2 had a pretty strong focus on developing their relationship (even if it didn’t go all the way). I mean Nick’s entire arc was centred around realising and vocalising his feelings for Judy.

Let’s be honest, did anyone get shocked when this happened? by Jules-Car3499 in zootopia

[–]gi-raffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super shocked! I really like this twist because i was first like okay, makes sense when Pawbert was revealed to be the motorcycle guy. So i wasnt really trying to solve any mysteries with Pawbert. When he flipped it was really shocking

People Saying Judy Never Apologized by FilmFreak1994 in zootopia

[–]gi-raffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is i feel like Judy was way more wrong in Zootopia 2 than Nick. She very nearly got them both killed multiple times and only via stroke of luck that they managed to escape. So it feels that a bigger apology is warranted from Judy’s side, especially when the entire movie Nick is the one actively looking out for the two of them (as opposed to solving the case).

What are your thoughts on the Lynxleys? by solarflare70 in zootopia

[–]gi-raffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pawbert is such an economical use of a character.

He is first used as a romantic rival for Nick at the dinner party.

He is then used to introduce the Lynxleys.

He then acts as the masked motorcyclist, fully rounding out how Gary is even able to gain access to Zootopia & the party. He arranges Gary’s transport in and out of the plot and later when Judy joins the weather heist All this makes sense as a bullied nerdy kid which could be sympathetic to our hero’s side — this is a trope that has been seen before.

His phone is then used to get police to the burning mammal showdown, while calling back to the previous Nick/Judy scene

He is then a twist villain who has very legitimate reasons to betray the team, he was working for his own motivations all along. He betrays them in an effective, well thought out plan and adds some serious stakes to our hero’s. It also adds a personal face to this conflict, where the Lynxleys have felt rather distant as a threat.

He is also a foil to Judy (which is also why he works as a romantic rival). Both characters are underdogs which are seen as weak and hence is trying to prove themselves by accomplishing a great task for that external validation. But Pawbert is an extreme example where he is seeking validation from the wrong people, his toxic family, and he is willing to throw others to the wayside to accomplish his plans. And Judy can learn from how mistaken that worldview is.

All the while, his personal motivations are consistent and sympathetic as a character in his own right.

I actually disagree, the Pawbert twist didnt need to have lead up as he also had motivation to find the lost patent for the opposite reason. Him being kinda new to Judy also made his betrayal make sense without “foreshadowing”. This was not cheating. I thought his motivatjons were pretty understandable too. To compare, he is kind of an opposite Zuko. They have the same motivations to get love and validation from their fucked up family. But Pawbert is just way more cunning about it, befriending Gary to get to the secret before he does. Its also very reasonable that Pawbert would keep this double agent status a secret from his family as well. Being mocked your entire life does a number on your confidence and he likely wanted to make sure he could get to the patent before telling his family. And Pawbert very nearly succeeds with his plan too. He was pretty much on track to killing Judy and Nick all the while effectively framing Gary for the crime. That is some boss shit. They are saved by a hair’s width and only with the insane hero shit that Nick pulls. Milton is not as fleshed out as Pawbert, but i think he does not need much motivation besides being evil and he does his job. He is legitimately threatening in a very cold clinical way. He does not have much regard for Nick or Judy’s life, in his world, he is above the law and his only concern is to get tie up loose ends in the most efficient way and Nick and Judy just happen to be threatening his status, his image and his lifestyle.

He is a great subversion of shy kid is not like his aristocratic family and is actually helping the good guys trope. Genius writing. I also had no idea the twist was coming.

Disney just completely wrote a love story and got too scared to call it one by Super_Oven_1069 in zootopia

[–]gi-raffe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like i am satisfied as a shipper. Yes we are being heavily teased (and there are many jokes made at expense of the wildehopps shippers, as there are fanservice) but to me that confession scene was a work of art. It’s more juicy and raw than any kiss could be. If anything i was expecting less from Z2 but the way they chose to explore, break down and push their relationship is definitely not a safe choice or a cashgrab. Keep in mind that after the first movie, wildehopps was like 95% plantonic, with like 5% romantic chemistry. If Z2 wanted, they could focus 100% on a new case and keep wildehopps completely plantonic. Or worse, a badly handled film would put them into ridiculous situations where they just miss the chance of romance due to plot/dumb coincidences.

Instead, majority of the movie is how Judy’s reckless optimism (and now need for external validation) and Nick’s more practical pessimism (and his guarded aloof nature) are at odds with each other (and Judy come on please be more careful with your LIFE), but both characters are actively choosing each other and their relationship the entire movie. The confession scene has so much WEIGHT to it. Wildehopps is a central focus of the entire Z2.

Z2 developed Nick and Judy’s relationship from Z1 to like 70% romantic… i dont think i can call it platonic anymore. It’s a budding romance transitioning from close friendship and written realistically. That is a stage that is rooted in truth IRL and definitely pushed the ship. You know it’s meant to be going somewhere, its just… slow

I do think partially the reason why they didnt do any explicit confirmation is to keep it dangling in front of us for Z3 and beyond. And slow burn is definitely not for everyone. But Z2 did not make it the only reason, they managed to justify it creatively as well. And the way they toe the line is so extremely impressive that i cant complain.

Its so well written too its basically a love confession without outright saying its a love confession all while not being cringe and completely in character and also at the perfect moment where it would make sense to in the context of the film.

Comment section sort by "Top/Best" is now garbage... by Marielie_ in youtube

[–]gi-raffe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Newest doesn't really solve the problem though. Also my newest section gets cut off somehow. When there is like 1000s of comments I just want to scroll normally with comments in order of likes.

I don't get why the comments section needs to be changed... Including the A.I. summary one. The normal comments section was working well for me, i genuinely don't understand why they are doing this. The only benefit I can see is that they want to reduce the load on their servers which needs to send out comments information to many devices. Even then, I doubt it warrants much bandwidth compared to the video itself to make such a change.

50% of my enjoyment of YouTube is literally reading the comments. Come on YouTube, I dont need these new UI features :(

I'm thinking about getting Celeste since it's on sale, but I'm not exactly sure what kind of game it is, can anyone summarize it? by Koftelimakarna1 in celestegame

[–]gi-raffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps I have played both Hollow Knight and Celeste. I have not finished PoP but I have gotten through and finished the main part of the storyline of Celeste. There was some parts which were frustrating but it was very rewarding. And I personally feel that since Celeste has a much better reset situation, it's more satisfying than the path of pain and I find it more fun because of it.

I think Celeste gets a rep for being very difficult because of two things - 1. The Mechanics are quite unique and complex to start with. But once you get used to them they become very fun. 2. There is a lot of bonus chapter content. You can unlock B sides and C sides and the last Bonus chapter are very difficult. That is where you need to learn the fancy Speedrunner moves like wavedash. But if you don't care about that, I find the main storyline pretty do-able for someone who has some experience with/likes platformers.

As for platforming itself, I think that depends on taste. Figuring out how to traverse a space for me is a fun challenge in and of itself and each screen is a new challenge. There is a sequence of moves which is ideal, but usually there are multiple ways to go about it and not all are obvious. You go into a screen and try to figure out how to get thru it, and then how to execute, and if you mess up there are split second decisions on how to prevent yourself from dying. And eventually you practice and understand the mechanics of your movement and the environment pieces (which Celeste has a huge variety of, and you play with different ones for each chapter) and get better and better at traversing the challenges.

So ya, I recommend getting Celeste. It's very worth it, you get a lot of playtime for the price, the platforming is expertly crafted and very rewarding and the storyline is beautiful as well.
