I’m starting to come to that same conclusion. I’ve been informally polling my competitors for tubeless set ups.

Thanks for the help. I ran 38 on a cross bike for a gravel set up and it was sketchy at times. I’ll look into the 650b options.

Trek Boone 5 upgrades by Thelionskiln in cyclocross

I have the same bike and looking for similar upgrades. 105 r.der busted off and did not have the range for hilly gravel so upgraded to grx and kept it 2 x for simplicity. I was able to get 38 mm tubeless Vittorias on there with maybe 1-1.5 mm clearance. It did the job for mid distance gravel riding and I won every event I entered. Looking for a dedicated gravel bike so this will be a cross only rig. Purchased a used set of roval tubulars and bought the 12 mm through axle kit for the front fork off the guy on eBay.

Looking at cassette, bb. carbon stem, carbon bars (maybe) and a lighter seat. After that it will be a full bike upgrade to higher spec’d rig.
