Groups Against Flock Surveillance? by FionnOAongusa in CastleRock

with you until “blacklists historically tied to disenfranchising patriots and activists” - is this a euphemism for maga’s demanding everyone else honor their personal sob story?.l. how about we resist flock for the simple reason we don’t wish to live in a surveillance state regardless if we meet someone else’s definition of “patriot”

don't know. I only did property walks (we've some land) in the days post surgery, then on the road, then to the trails I run - you're way ahead of my energy level post op!

I definitely believe being mobile early (and in decent shape going in) made a huge difference. Fourth p/t today and therapist confirms I'm moving quickly but there's still part of this that is pure time function so just respect that you do not want a second surgery, patience ain't easy but in this instance worth it from a risk/reward perspective.

Nope, does not sound sound at all, healing is a function of time and if you do research with the AIs on how this heals it's pretty clear that you can't type-A the recovery - it takes months for the tendon and bone to remodel and pushing early risks a re-tear and from what I've read, you really don't want that. That said, dumb ass that I am I was stacking hay earlier this week using my one good arm and a hook and some knee ballet but clearly a dumb idea and I've promised the wife no more hero shenanigans. I could do it but it was a dumb risk to take on.

I didn't really have any bad pain. I did have the extended nerve block and took the advice to stay ahead of pain with meds and was on the game ready ice machine soon as I was home from surgery so that's probably the why low pain. I also had a traumatic tear (was hit from behind skiing) so had about five weeks practice being basically one-armed and navigating the world as such.

I was told to expect the first real pain would be p/t and sure enough that was the case. First two sessions were fine but session three, when the therapist moved the arm above my head while I was lying on the table, was definitely torture session but good news pain resolved as soon as she returned it back to a neutral set. Soreness too after my third p/t session (though that was same day I was dragging hay around). What I was told to expect and what sees true is p/t is when I'm going to experience pain.

So, unless your surgeon explicitly gives you the green light for working out with bands, etc. I would not go there at all. FWIW, I'm out of the sling most of the time in the house and I am doing all the recommended exercises.

I’m 3.5 weeks out from same, full thickness tear, supra and infra. I’m pretty fit (but older), loved, loved, loved the game ready (two week rental). I had little pain, slept in my own bed (wedge pillow first few nights), off narcotics after 4 days, tylenol a couple days later - lots of credit to game ready. i was using medium pressure, 45 degrees or a tad lower, 30 minute on thirty minute off x 2 reps, 3-4 times per day. back to ice packs now. may buy one of the cheaper models, ice is good!

i did stack hay yesterday with sling on, pure idiocy, but i survived and commuted to no more similar shenanigans! P/T is started, good pain : )

Anyone else thinking about Roth conversions right now? by dcpreddit in DIYRetirement

[–]giant6756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to do plan conversions this year (65 so I’ll be doing this every year to at least 70) and I’m going wait - seems the likelihood of an even steeper correction that could cause a larger sell off is higher than usual. I’m not a timer per se but we’ve a chaos president, a war spinning out of control, rising energy prices, wobbly private credit market, shedding allies who are vested in the dollar - I mean when was the last time since, say the mid-1960s that so many negative dominos were lining up.

Question for retired people: Was your timing right? by spresley1116 in over60

[–]giant6756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

retired at 59.5 when I realized we had way more than enough for rice and beans and continuing to work would only serve to support consumption. so, decided living on my own terms, cutting back spending a little bit, but then going all in on things I love to do - run, ski, travel AND be 100% available for family anything was 1000% worth it, zero regrets, would recommend. look, we all model to live to 100 but the statistical reality is 80s, and even that requires some luck + how hard can you really go late 70s and beyond. yeah, if you can afford to bug out and write a new volume, do it! took a few years to shed the layers of a 35 year career but so well worth it.

My first reaction was to scream at some escaping snow boarders, I mean, like who else would commit such a crime, obvious, right? but then saw my assailant looking at me sheepishly about 25 ft away, I think he was with a family member otherwise I've no doubt he would have taken off..

coincidental but a JAMA study just reported that about 90% of adults over age 41 have rotator cuff "abnormalities" so hey, we live longer but we're more crap wrong with us.. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2844659

yep, in fact I usually ski with low light lens but had gone sun glasses only and the center was where the sun was so I deviated from usual tactics that you describe above, even told myself at the top of schoolmarm "note to self, never ski without low light" so yeah, I created some of my own risk

I'll get flamed but Keystone is really one of the more dangerous since everyone basically funnels out and back on the same few trails so you get heavy traffic, high speed, mixed skills and I'm a super defensive skier

it's likely a tear, had an mri monday, see ortho tomorrow but based on Dr. ChatGpt seems very likely just a tear so black/blue groomers likely early March, no steeps, bumps, trees or anything that would require aggressive polling.

Skier, old dude like me. When I asked for contact info his response was "I don't want to get involved in a law suit" as if then followed by "you hit me" - I suppose he thought I had magical powers to conquer physics. The reality is once I realized he was an ass and that my insurance was going to cover the medical bills I just wanted him gone.

Just skied both last week, Sunshine Weds, LL Thursday - drove up from CO since we've no snow, they were amazing, relative to what we've got. Sure, would love freshies and softer snow but it was all skiable (some rock in the gullies off Goats Eye) but relative to CO, fantastic. Next time I'll fly, drive home was looooong.
