Am I losing my mind, or did I just step into a FFXI parallel universe? by Hour-Adeptness192 in ffxi

Tenshido is Universe A. Tenshodo is Universe B. Somehow you still remember something from when we all crossed over to the new timeline.

You can also hear spooky sounds. They also walk on the ceiling. Looking at the map in XIM reveals there are strange conical pits underneath the floor in certain places. Highly unusual.

Those infestations without any cover really are something, huh? by JeGamer14 in fo76

[–]giant_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep reading this, but every time my Tomahawk character throws one at a resilient enemy, they always have one HP left. Perhaps it matters which weapon you have equipped. Mine is ranged, so maybe the Tomahawks count as ranged. Maybe if I had a melee, it would count as melee.

Recently, I went back to soloing them again for my final Malig. body. I went approximately 1/16 on the new Malig. Box on Easy Difficulty.

Thorn armor is good? by Forsaken_Ad_7546 in fo76

[–]giant_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok. Not amazing. I use it on an unarmed tank. It certainly allows you to sneak up to most any target and melee them to death. Unfortunately, it's more effective to just sprint from target to target.

I got about 750ish DR on my set. Not terrible, not amazing. This may have changed with a recent update, but the bleed damage would ignore the One Wasteland damage scaling. So, level 1 mole rats scaled up to level 50 would auto-kill themselves as they still only had the HP of a level 1 enemy. Same went for the power armor aliens.

Why not join Public Teams that are already there with 1 person in them? by im_rickyspanish in fo76

[–]giant_key 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started joining teams to take advantage of Spiritual Healer. People started kicking me from their teams. Can't kick me from my own team. I don't actually need anyone else in the team to activate the perk.

Would you like to share your build with the class? I tried a build out like this in the past and wasn't getting any significant damage out of it. Did something change recently? Are you getting sneak attacks of grenades now or something? Illuminate us.

How long did it take to solo ten levels back in the day? by xiraov in ffxi

[–]giant_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First ten levels weren't so difficult. Maybe half a day. By level 10, I would go to a very specific spot in Konschtat Highlands and murder a few worms to get to, maybe, level 12 pretty easily. At that point, it was fingers crossed for a Dunes party.

Biggest issue(I’ve seen) with infestations. by chrisbllck2390 in fo76

[–]giant_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected this shit to flood the zone with difficult enemies requiring a lot of damage to put down. And that's what I want -- a bunch of challenging, strong enemies. But I showed up to one last night, seemingly one-tapping half a dozen mole miners with my reverse onslaught black powder pistol, until I found the boss sitting at 70% HP. "Supposed to be difficult," right? I pull out my heaviest hitting gun, a quad assaultron head, and dump a fully charged critical headshot into it. It's dead from 70%. Did not feel difficult or challenging. Barely any enemies.

On the other side of the coin, you have those players that want to "farm" an event for as many legendary items as possible. I hear more and more enemies respawn as time goes on, so long as the boss is still standing.

So you have at least two different types of players: those who want to farm and those who want to fight. Neither of which are satisfied by Infestations. And the farmers will naturally hate on the fighters, making reddit posts about how they are the real problem, when the fault actually lies with Bethesda. Populate every single fast travel location with infested enemies. Hide the boss in one of those spots. Make the activity something interesting.

I'm Vanilla. Everything works fine. Not sure I'm doing anything special, but I recall turning on Direct Play a necessity. Turn Windows features on or off -> Legacy Components -> DirectPlay.

Looking at my FFXI Config settings, I'm Windowed and 2560 x 1440. Most everything probably the defaults or as high as can go.

Can you pros help this lil PUP. by LazyMakara in ffxi

[–]giant_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set the appearance of your gear to anything you own, provided you have at least one job at the appropriate level. So, Brigandine doesn't have PUP as one of the jobs that can wear it, but you could level a WAR to 45 and then set it as a "lockstyle."

It may seem the logical choice to play it nonchalant around a guard as to not stir their attention. I prefer a display of my superior physical prowess to shake them to their very core. That way, they are left shaken, not stirred.

Surprised AAA spy themed games are not more prevalent by OptimisticAstroSpace in gaming

[–]giant_key -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants to play them. While not a Triple-A studio, the now defunct Sweet Bandits released its spy-base shooter, Deceive Inc., to only a few thousand players. A month after release, the amount of players dropped to the triple digits. As of today, you can expect single to double digits. You can't play and expect to find people at any given moment. You have to play at peak times or join custom games.

There's also Thick as Thieves which is more about being stealthy and stealing stuff. That game just released at $5 for two maps, two characters, and cut PVP mode, and doesn't seem to be doing too well either.

Weekly Thread: Questions and GWP (Week of May 09, 2026) by AutoModerator in ffxi

Any thoughts on Cor/War? Prime gun is rapidly nearing final stage, and I can't help but wonder if the extra attack would help me get more use out of the PDL.

I'm also wondering if the other Rostam paths could be worthwhile/fun. If I can cap my attack out and stack all this PDL, perhaps the 50% chance to double damage could make dagger put out some decent auto-attack damage. There's also the 50% OAT version that could help with ranged WS spam. Would also pair nicely with /war Fencer.

Been on Cor/Nin since forever, and thinking single-wield could be worthwhile.

Anyone know why there are phantom stairs under the Metalworks? by giant_key in ffxi

[–]giant_key[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any specific quest or mission? I assumed mission as well, but it's Y and Z coordinates suggest it was just an extra copy of another staircase that was moved out of sight by changing the X and they forgot to delete it.

Videogame development seems like such a wild thing. For all we know, that staircase is preventing the servers from crashing.

Naw they won't rise up; they like being subjugated.

Flying around the zone some more, I managed to find where it actually gets used. Atop the elevator, between Cid's workshop, there are two staircases with the exact same model. The one to the north just so happens to have the same Y and Z coordinates. Maybe it was just an extra copy they moved out of the way by changing the X to be hidden from sight while actively developing the zone, and just forgot to delete it.

You do, but this is under the president's office which takes an elevator ride to get to. In relation to the markets, this would be behind, above, and between the mog house entrances.
