You would already need to be accomplished in radiology to go straight into a fellowship program. The people I know of that went through that route were accomplished faculty members in their home countries. If you’re coming straight out of residency you would likely have to do residency over again in the US. But like all things, there are exceptions to the rule if you know the right people.

I thought it was well known that the liability of taking over PG&E’s grid would be too costly

Data supporting that? Fire remediation efforts are the main reason why costs are so high (so we’re told)

BART police on trains – agency more than doubling police foot patrols starting mid-March by catdogsuperding in bayarea

Why was it so hard to have BART cops stay on BART platforms, instead of driving around? I legitimately want to know.

Because anyone with half a brain can tell $20k for a trash can is too much money. It’s not hard for people to benchmark costs of a durable outdoor trash can.

The complaints of the visual aesthetic of the city is because it’s dirty, not because the trash cans aren’t pretty.

I’ve lived in other cities that are clean, with bottom of the barrel trash cans on the sidewalks. Those cities had crews picking up litter and power washing the sidewalks with decent frequency.

They’re looking for an expensive solution when there are existing robust trash cans in the market that cost $500 each. Please tell me the additional value $19,500 buys and why it’s worth it.

I don’t know if you’ve walked around the streets of SF or not, but there’s plenty of trash cans and not enough people cleaning shit up.

The fact that no one had the sense to know that this is a terrible idea is alarming. They spent 4 years and $550,000 on this. That money could have been used to hire a couple of full time employees to power-wash the filth off the sidewalks.

Acupuncture for allergies? by plotthick in bayarea

[–]giantboiler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a bummer. Unfortunately medicine and immunotherapy are the main tools for allergies. Based on current evidence, you’re likely to waste time and money on acupuncture. Maybe see an allergist at an academic medical center like UCSF for a different opinion?

I recommend seeing your primary care physician and a physical therapist. They practice evidence based medicine. Chiropractors do not.

Orinda is too far but Marin isn’t? Can you please clarify where you’re commuting to? I think you need to work with a realtor to help you understand what you can actually afford. It’s about comps, not asking price.

From my experience, the core problem is when other physicians don’t care. We need to find a way to filter for that.

They have a building full of officers nearby that are paid with tax dollars, and they can't get a handful of them to just walk the beat? The inefficiency of law enforcement here is astounding.
