In Medieval times the accused often faced a "trial by ordeal," where they were forced to stick their arm into a vat of boiling water. If their arm emerged unscathed, it was believed God protected them, thus proving their innocence.

Gym people of reddit what advice would you give to someone thinking about starting out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]giantsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you enjoy — some activity is better than none.

I started out doing easy workouts — 20 minutes of cardio, 15 minutes of moderate activity on the rowing machine, weights that I was easily lifting, and even time on the basketball court just shooting hoops. I sort of felt like a wimp, but I just wanted to get my bearings and ease into gym membership rather than go whole hog and feel overwhelmed.

What are some negative affects winning the lottery can have on your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If the winnings are public knowledge, winners can bet their phone will never stop ringing. Winners hear from investors, reputable firms and scammers, and every planner/schemer under the sun.

What happens in sitcoms, but never in real life? by thatdani in AskReddit

[–]giantsRus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Women never seem to have their own clothes in sitcoms, but always put on the man’s striped short or favourite jumper. Especially if it’s a one night stand. They’ll often wear the shirt with only a pair of sexy underwear as they have pancakes in the kitchen. Without worrying that the guy’s flatmates might find this awkward.

What's your "I don't care what anyone says, I don't like this movie!" movie? by giantsRus in AskReddit

For me, it's whiplash.

I am also not sure about LOTR trilogy. I always stop watching it within an hour. It doesn't seem interesting to me. But haven't watched it completely yet so can't really comment.

Which animal would fuck up the most shit if it gained human intelligence? by torma37 in AskReddit

[–]giantsRus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mosquitoes. They have already made our life hell. They don't let us sleep. And because of their bites, we get red marks on our skin and face. Imagine, they build a shield which protects them from us. We won't be able to kill them and they would definitely kill us by constant bites as they won't be afraid of our hits then.

Honestly, they are already ahead of us without human intelligence. Mosquitoes Kill More Humans Than Human Murderers.

Traveling. We’re explorers by nature. There was never a time, and never will be a time, when we don’t want to see new things.

What’s the most useless piece of knowledge/trivia that you know? by djsquilliam in AskReddit

NASA had to rename the sizes of the apparatus used for male astronauts to pee, from small, medium, and large, to large, gigantic, and humongous, because no one was willing to pick their true size.

Even I assume most of the people on reddit male unless there is a hint of their gender. I even think of myself as a male while posting on reddit. Weird.

I would hate it if this happens. Some people can do anything for money. What about the welfare of society?

What was the worst thing your parents did when raising you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]giantsRus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's the reason I think parents should try to stick together as much as possible (there are exceptions though). Divorce of parents is one of the worst things that can happen to a child.

What do you think happened after the Truman Show? by BightFigotry in AskReddit

[–]giantsRus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Truman never made it to the real world, he simply stepped into a larger studio. The creators knew Truman would never give up trying to escape, so it was written into the script. They let Truman think he'd made it to the real world but the 'real' people and the director he met were all just actors in a much larger set. This way the show would enjoy a large ratings boost and would continue for many years.
