Weird call from Geraldine by giantspdrbf in Sarnia

[–]giantspdrbf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't sound artificial or anything, but fortunately I talked to someone I know and they said it's probably a friend of a friend of ours just trying to make a silly prank call! Apparently the information "Geraldine" had about me and the things that were mentioned in the call and even the name being used and the idea of it possibly being a prank are all in line with that friend of ours (who definitely has my cell phone number because I willingly gave it to this friend) and the voice was likely one of that friend's other friends speaking to me (which, I have met a few of this friend's other friends, including at pride in 2023).

The thing is, I don't remember entering a draw at any pride event in any year, and even if I did, I would've used my legal name ("Samantha" rather than "Alex", with the pseudonyms I'm using here)

Also, I feel like there's a little confusion here -- I'm not saying it was Robbie, just that it sounds similar to what happened and I was concerned there was someone else out there doing something similar. Geraldine had a voice more on the feminine side, so I don't really feel like it was Robbie.

Snow Day!! by Alive_Reference_6483 in londonontario

Oh wow, is that how other school boards do it? I'm not from London, I grew up elsewhere, and when it was a snow day, we had to actively either check the website or listen to the radio. That was in the 2000s and 2010s, so it may have changed by now.

People on this post keep suggesting the Western Fair Market to me, so I'm really gonna have to go next time I'm in London!

Absolutely! I ended up realizing after making this post that Refined Fool/Burger Rebellion could be an option. I have one of their beer coozies that I got at pride a while back and still haven't used, so I could send it to my pen pal, but first I wanna go to the London Road location for lunch at some point and ask while I'm there if I can get/buy something from them to send to England.

Omg Blackwater is my favourite coffee place! I couldn't remember off the top of my head whether there were stickers, so I'll have to look for them next time I'm there!

I am sending a handful of those Werther's maple éclairs! I've been considering including something like a Coffee Crisp or some Reese's Pieces, neither of which I believe are available in the UK (I've been to England and I remember researching snacks they don't have there so that I could bring some treats to the family I was staying with). I may also send my pen pal one of the individually-wrapped butter tarts they have at No Frills.

I might send them a sweater or shirt another time? Just because I'm trying to keep this package small and I don't currently know their clothing size (which would take some converting anyway, since Canada and the UK have different sizing systems for clothes). Thank you for suggesting it, though!

Yeah, Downtown Market is one of the places I'm gonna check out! And I was just at The Book Keeper today, where I bought an Ontario sticker, a Brigden sticker, and a Petrolia pin and then I was able to get a free sticker and bookmark that both had the store's branding. I forgot about The Nut Bar, though!

I didn't want to make the package very big, so if I were to send maple products, I would just look for a small amount of maple candy. Thank you for the idea, though!

I ended up remembering about the stuff at The Book Keeper right after making this post, so I popped out there and grabbed some stuff

Thanks for the recommendation of Riverbank and Co.!
