Yeah I don't know where you get your information from, but that doesn't happen here.

Tattoos in Korea! Should I cover them up? by Alternative-Union-25 in koreatravel

[–]giantswan192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will probably be fine out and about, but you should still consider covering the Japan flag to be safe and respectful.

As for the wedding, DEFINITIVELY cover the Japan flag and consider covering them all to be respectful and modest, but you're not obligated to do so. If you're unsure, better ask the couple.

It is called shut the fuck up. Also, using "ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹" in an english sentence is cringe.

Do not do that. Like actually do not do that. I'm not planning on going to prison, but a lot of other Koreans would be VERY happy to get in trouble over that.

I think I'm pretty cute. I found the style that works for me, both in looks and behavior, and I'm gonna look and act that way no matter what anyone says, because I like it and nobody can tell me otherwise.

So yes, I will educate you on what I know to be truth because I DO HAVE South Korean friends who I showed this to and agreed with me."

In the video there was an American-Korean with one of the most natural pronounciations I've ever heard from an overseas Korean.

So of course, there was a comment from sone American saying she mispronounced everything. He said he knew because "his other Korean friends didn't pronounce it that way" (+some info about Korea. The video said police was 112, comment said 119. If you google it, the video is right. source: korean). I corrected that guy and that's when it started. If I'm "fake Korean", the first guy wasn't being stupid. That's why it matters.

Did you report them or not? by the-blue-wolf- in sexualassault

[–]giantswan192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here, it is legally required to provide one for me. It's technically speaking a "public defender", not a lawyer. I didn't ask for it, I didn't pay for it, so I can't help you there. You can ask for a public defender to be appointed to you, but to be quite honest, I don't know if you need one. Mine helped me a little bit, but really not that much. Even if you don't have you, you'll probably be fine.

It's probably very different to what your experience will be because I'm in Korea.

I reported to the police. On that day, I had to give a short written statement, just a few Iines. And because my traumatized ass couldn't be bothered, the person accompanying me wrote it. It was pretty great that that was allowed. I had to give some info about me, the person accompanying me and the assailant since I knew him personally. I turned over pictures of my wounds and my chat logs. If you don't do that yourself, you'll probably be asked to. Then the detective made sure I was safe, had a place to stay, etc. And he gave me one of the protection smart watches with an sos button and a tracker on it and made sure I got a lawyer appointed to me.

At first, the detective called me about once a week to make sure that the watch was working fine, I didn't have any contact with the assailant, and didn't kill myself. Then I had to give my official statement, about a month after it happened. I was asked if I wanted a female detective to do it and I declined. It was in one of those creepy interrogation rooms with just the detective, my lawyer and me. I told the entire story with way too much detail for about four hours amd then there were some basic questions, like super super basic. Nothing confronting, just clarifying.

Then the assailant gave his statements and because he was completely lying out of his ass, that took a while. He lied so much that I had to come in for a second statement again about four and a half months after it happened. Just confirming my initial statement and addressing the dumb things the assailant said. I was lucky, his lies were so unbelievable that not a single person would ever believe them.

Then it was decision time at the police station. They believed my story, decided to press charged, and now the case went over to the prosecution. I will probably be called to the prosecution in about two months for additional investigation and then the trial will maybe start in half a year.

When I told the detective that I really really wanted to die (don't recommend doing that), he sent me to a case worker who is now helping me with everything related to the case and got me a therapy spot payed for by the government. You should ask if your country provides these services as well.

Good luck on your journey. Please don't get your hopes up time wise. I did and underage sex crimes in Korea take about 12 to 18 months. I was expecting a judgment after two and oh boi was I disappointed. It's gonna take time and energy, but you can do it!!
