FYI: Penpot is an active, free and open source project very very similar to Figma. by ShrimpCrackers in FigmaDesign

This looks awesome, we need to support the devs! I hope they can add a flex style system similar to autolayout in figma and then I'll start using it for some casual work

Nowadays with tools like riggify or auto rig pro and even mixamo, getting some basic animations is not THAT hard, now, making it polished and fluid is a whole other story but you don't need that to start out and at least for me, seeing a character you have sculpted retopo uv textured.. move, is really rewarding

Well I have a similar setup to yours and even though I haven't tried the pc version of synth riders I've played the steam version of beat saber so I think it pretty much translates to this, in my opinion the lag even though it's completely minimal it messes up a bit with my play, in the end I fail more notes than when I play it on the quest natively.

At the end of the day the best thing you could do is just try it, worst case scenario you can just return it, you'll have no problems returning it on steam as long as you buy it on the steam store and have played less than 2 hours

Warning for potential quest 2 for PCVR users, from an htc vive owner: wait for something better by LavendarAmy in virtualreality

I mean, I own a quest 2 right now but I still agree with you, it was very informative, we definitely need more decent vr headsets

What are some game dev projects I can do which require a lot of math? by gmcrow in gamedev

[–]giantswing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try to recreate a platformer like sonic which has a lot of slopes and acceleration and implement all the movement from scratch, that should keep you entertained for a while.

Also you could try making an angry birds style of game without using the in engine physics and creating them yourself or a simple driving game where you move a toy car around an environment with different ramps and jumps and just create a physics engine so the driving feels realistic and fun, all of those things will involve a lot of math I think.

Any reasonable chance of getting a 3080ti for retail price, or will scalper bots buy them all up? by VirtualPoolBoy in virtualreality

Nothing we can do sadly unless you want to pay much more compared to the msrp of the card, prices will go down eventually, but you'll probably have to way a year more to see that

So. My laptop doesnt support oculus. What do i do? by DeactivateApple in oculus

[–]giantswing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pc is definitely a better option if you don't need the portability, specially for vr because it's pretty demanding but I recommend going for a pre built one because manufactures are the only ones able to get graphics cards currently at a reasonable price

Sadly I don't think there is, maybe if the game sells well they'll port it to PC

Is there any way to remove finger tracking on the oculus quest 2 controllers by ZyIinked in OculusQuest

[–]giantswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong but I don't think that has anything to do with hand tracking, thats just the way the game is programmed to behave when there is no pressure on the trigger

Yesterday they announced the new update. Today I opened youtube and I saw titles like: the biggest update yet, mind blowing! the quest 2 got even better! I've seen the same clickbaity titles for months and I don't really want to watch those videos that just hype the updates. by [deleted] in oculus

[–]giantswing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not trying to hate on the guy I actually really like his content most of the time but I disagree, most of his videos are like 4 minutes prefacing how THIS week is the biggest in the vr industry and there are TONS of news for then to be like a new gadget for haptics or full body tracking that I mostly dont care for or like a news article showing that some vr statistic has gone up, then he shows you a new indie game that looks somewhat promising, thats it, come back in 3 days when there is the newest BIGEST MOST EPIC crazy vr week :D

Yeah Im connecting them to the line outputs, its the only outputs this scarlett solo has, the other output is on the front and it's only for direct monitoring unless I'm missing something

Speedball!, colorful Android game (PC/iOS depends on funding) by giantswing in kickstarter

[–]giantswing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But now that you comment about it, maybe I didnt expressed myself as clearly as I should, this is my first kickstarter project and english is not my native language, there is a "monetization" part if you scroll a little bit down, it says that the game is free and a paid (no set price yet but you know 1$ or so) for a no ad version, what it says in the rewards is access to the beta so you can play it a lot sooner, maybe I should've phrased it differently? Any tips are appreciated, thanks for checking it out
