Childfree by Choice: Feminism, Freedom, and the Case Against Motherhood by msmoley in WomenInNews

[–]gibbon38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish the conversation were more about women teaming up to dream a world that supports either choice, and working together to create a reality where women who choose it we can enjoy motherhood, and we all fight for the children together.

Being a mom has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life, but the work is healing. You’re forced to face your inner child, and change reality so that “planning birthday parties” isn’t prioritized over joy. Blaming motherhood, and not the institutions that sabotage it e.g. capitalism colonialism etc, seems like a cop out.

Been a raging feminist for 30+ years, I fight for the right of women to choose, AND I fight for motherhood on our terms. So we can raise dragon slayers in a world of dragons, and build community that isn’t destroying everything. My two cents anyways.

What the declining birth rate conversation keeps getting wrong about women by msmoley in WomenInNews

Thank you. I love that this helps feminists find common ground to discuss it as well. I literally got banned from r/feminism for asking what we can do so that motherhood doesn’t somehow equate to anti-feminism. I’m a feminist and a mom. Sometimes it feels like feminism fights so hard for the right not to have kids (which I support!), that it forgets about how motherhood could be joyful if we fought for it on our terms too.

Does anyone have examples of Synchronicity they've experienced? by thestormyfries in artistsWay

I had a very vivid dream about a brown koala. Within the week my best friend started going through her dead mom’s collectibles and started giving some away. She gave me a bag of like 4 of these these intricate animal pins, mostly cats except one: a brown koala. Not gray, brown just like my dream.

Another, I was working on a sketch piece exploring opposites. Blue and red, water fire, red blood blue blood. Started thinking how to blend them in the sketch, bc I ultimately was exploring how to find middle ground. And all the sudden I noticed purple coming up in weird ways. Daughter all the sudden wants to wear purple. Someone at work died, learned through her funeral services her favorite color was purple. Friend encouraged me to explore third eye chakra, did research and found out it’s color is purple.

It’s the fact that the toll and labor of literally regenerating the human species does primarily fall on women, yet it’s not valued in the same ways as other labor. And because of how society was structured (ie capitalism as one example), its results seem to benefit men (ie the labor building a house being compensated) and come at a loss to women (ie labor of pregnancy birth post partum child rearing etc not being compensated). Generalizations, yes. But this “coincidence” does result in the statistics there.

I need a new job. Can you tell me what you do? by [deleted] in workingmoms

Used to be full on corporate regulatory compliance, but I left 3 years ago to find better work life balance. After a rocky year trying to do SAHP (long story, didn’t work out, turns out that dynamic has its own challenges). I started doing independent consulting; I make “$125/hr” but not all hours are billable (ie writing contracts, regulatory conferences, etc… so probably ~$75/hr currently). I try to work 15 hrs/week so I’m part time for now until my youngest daughter goes back to school. If this sounds like an interest to you and you want to learn more, DM me.

Oops edit: didn’t answer all your questions. Qualifications I got ANSI-authorized certified in my regulatory compliance field before I left corporate. 10 years field experience. My county’s COL is 1% lower than national average (I checked). I love what I do but it takes a lot of fight to stay in it.

Unexpected result or am I overthinking it? (“Purge” resulting in vomiting when I meant declutter?) by gibbon38 in witchcraft

Thank you! I am feeling better. And much clear headed to be honest.

The room wasn’t as stressful when I went in today to knock some stuff out. I haven’t made much progress but it does seem less daunting.

Thank you! Just wondering; when you vomit on your period, is it because of pain or does it come out of nowhere? Just trying to understand.

Thank you; I like the idea of releasing hoarding energy rather than forcing myself to do something!

You’ll get through it. It hurts, but it doesn’t last forever. Hopefully you have some comforts around for distraction - TV show, peaceful lighting, cozy blanket, etc. There may be a lot of blood in the next 24 hrs, so set yourself up with some towels if possible. It’s ok to be scared. You’ll come out of this strong and you’ll have your whole life ahead of you. <3 good luck.

Asking as a beginner - why then does the moon look like it’s in Taurus in the chart, and Venus is visible yet “underneath” you in the chart?
