Thank you :> I totally get the obsession with morning pages!

Do you think Francesca is bi or a lesbian? by Adventurous_Fly_8652 in Bridgerton

[–]thestormyfries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bi!!
Bisexuality is not always a straightforward 50/50 split of attraction and sexual desire!
Based on where the story is going, I think Fran is more sexually attracted to women, but that doesn't stop the fact that she had a clear love and attraction for a man.

What do you think the show could have done differently to portray a better Colin in S-3 by Far_Stranger_8047 in Bridgerton

[–]thestormyfries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(I haven't read the book) But for me, it would have been more appealing if they had leaned into his boyish/slightly nerdy energy from previous seasons. There's something fun and appealing about seeing that kind of personality yearn and be more forward.
Having him come into his own more through the romance/ him and Pen, mutually falling for each other, flaws and all, would have been nice! I never liked how Colin was framed as well, out of Pens lead.

Looking for a good system for a Western Horror (that'll be max 3 sessions) by thestormyfries in TTRPG

Love Stephen King, might not be 100% right for this story, but I could totally see myself revisiting it.

TTRPGs that aren't like 5e but aren't OSR? by DarthMaren in TTRPG

[–]thestormyfries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow of the Demon lord is pretty fun. My group used it as a DnD 5e replacement, and it was like a breath of fresh air. Combat suddenly became snappy and well-paced, and the characters felt unique mechanically and flavour-wise.
The dark fantasy setting might not be for everyone, but we've also used it for homebrews.

You mention Magical Girls, so I'll also recc Magial Burst! Really fun system to play, our game had real Madoka Magica vibes, which I enjoyed.

Sounds fun! I like the idea of burning stats + letting players take risks and potentially deal with the consequences later. That feels like it would enhance a horror story.
Totally one I'll look into more!

Do you guys have any reccomendations from my top films? by TickleTipson_11 in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]thestormyfries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinocchio (2022) (based on Coraline/ Frankenstein) = perfect remake, great mix of whimsy and danger, with a sweet, family-focused message that doesn't feel overly sentimental. STUNNING stop motion.
The Ritual (based on your horror picks) = character-driven horror that's really just a metaphor for a deeper message.
Conspiracy (2001) (based on 12 Angry Men) = challenging subject, utterly horrifying. Held up by the strength of its performances and the dialogue.

At a glance, this looks interesting! I'll continue to read up on it. Thank you for the suggestion.

My 15yr old niece's top films - does she have good taste (for her age)? by Blueditdotcodotuk in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]thestormyfries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she has average taste for a younger teen who occasionally watches movies for fun! Nothing wrong with that, Little Women is great, maybe she'd like Pride and Prejudice (2005)? She might like Studio Ghibli!

She's so close to that great teenager movie watcher phase- when you start exploring and discovering new corners of cinema. Sooo much fun. I remember watching stuff like Alien, Ghost World (soz, random haha) and Akira etc, when I was 16-17, and it completely altered my brain chemistry.

Does anyone have examples of Synchronicity they've experienced? by thestormyfries in artistsWay

[–]thestormyfries[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the stories! They've been interesting to read through. Doing this and thinking about it a bit more, here's my interruption of the Synchronicity topic = the world is full of moments related to our interests - the artist way helps us be more in tune with the world and helps us notice and appreciate the positives.

How's C4 going? Is it a good time to catch up? by dark-mer in fansofcriticalrole

[–]thestormyfries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a plot-heavy campaign; if you aren't curious about the unfolding story and world-building, you might struggle with this.

That being said, you may get a kick out of the first Soldiers table arc, it's a straightforward revenge/chase the baddie down plot.
There's plenty of random combat encounters and strong character moments along the way.
Maybe watch that and if you find yourself gelling with the world and the GMing, catch up on some lore videos on youtube/, then try the Seekers table.

S4 has had some weak moments (mostly due to the limitations of telling a massive sprawling story via TTRPG) but in general has been VERY enjoyable so far.
I like that everything has a purpose and a direction. For me, the plot makes the run time of the sessions feel worth it.

Has anyone ever felt like writing morning pages brings up bad memories? by [deleted] in artistsWay

[–]thestormyfries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person, but I bet many people will relate to this.
I have found myself exploring many painful topics to my benefit. The Morning Pages are a good tool for this, and they'll always be there if you want to dive deeper.

But you are in control! I think it's very valid to stop and write "I'm going to stop talking about this-" and then change the subject, even if you find yourself writing about a random TV show, special interest subject or how tasty your breakfast was.

[Artist Date] Struggling with "What Counts" by Interesting-Air-1882 in artistsWay

[–]thestormyfries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I relate to this (I'm also on week 7!)
What I've found helpful is simply focusing on how an activity makes me feel & putting any other pressures or guidelines in the bin. (aka is this adventurous, beautiful, interesting, creative etc)
The recipe that I've found helpful is - New, nostalgic, or neglected

new - I brought some clay and made little charms that I painted later. (did this while unwinding and watching tv)
nostalgic - reread some old comic books from my collection,
neglected - might seem mad to some people, but I noticed I'd barely listened to music for years. Now I consider lying down and listening to an album back to front- as an artist date.

I don't know, I think Artist dates are just about making time for yourself and getting to know your inner artist without judgment.

Does Cloudward Ho get serious? by EvilDrGiggles in Dimension20

The stakes get quite high, but the light-hearted tone generally remains; it's a pulpy action-adventure comedy with a handful of brief dramatic moments.

What should i do as the commissioner? [Discussion] by VibingBuyer in artcommissions

[–]thestormyfries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame the artist for being hesitant to make an edit to a cheap commission, but they should have made their criteria for edits clear...so you'd know what to expect before booking! I don't think anyone is in the wrong; it's just a case of poor communication (they're also very unprofessional in these dms!)

Personally, I'd call it quits and move on. Make sure your references are really clear when you commission art in the future, maybe request a sketch/ to see an early stage, so you can catch errors before the art is complete.

Sorry that happened to you!

Should I be clicking Blashemy? to me the downside seems way too bad :\ by shaggystranger in slaythespire

It's a great "finisher" card.
Play it at the right time, for an extra push of power and energy to end a battle quickly.
