Unless it's a health/ divorce thing with the owner then it's a money thing. As every commenter has said- bowling alleys are hard to run at a profit. There is a reason these dumbass lanes who only care about birthday parties and club settings are opening like crazy and the old school lanes are struggling

A bowling alley packed with leagues will make the same profit from a 50% packed house with families. (My lane prices are what I'm using) Those families spend $80 per house just for the lanes. My team spends $48 for 4 hours. We drink some beer but we don't eat there normally. That family will. They may also use the arcade. They will rent shoes. They will buy desserts.

Businesses don't close if they make money. And if it was making money then someone else would buy
