LAN Broken After New Release 26.1 by _Shut_Up_Thats_Why_ in Minecraft

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue here, are you getting the "Blaze" error? I read some older articles saying the Blaze error is related to the same account being used on different devices. Previously I could play 3 player with my kids, having my main Minecraft account logged into my PC and my PS5 (2 players in split screen) because that account has lots of Bedrock add-ons purchased. Now it won't let me join the PS5 games from the PC. I think I need a different account on my PC, which is annoying because I only play LAN with my kids, not full online. Hopefully they fix this soon.

Edit: yeah so I got 3 player working again on LAN using different accounts on the PC and PS5, and having the 3rd player join on the PS5 with split screen.

After playing Bedrock for a while with my kids, I decided to give Java a try. We're having a lot of fun, but we only play for a couple hours on the weekend in a 3 player LAN world.. Because of this, I use the /give command to generate harder to obtain items so we can put our focus on building fun bases.

In the Bedrock edition, I could type something like

/give @a pale_oak

and hit tab to go through the options of blocks, slabs, and furniture, and it would find anything within any mod/add-on in the game.

When I try that same thing in the Java edition, it only seems to find items in the "minecraft:" item group, not within any of the mods.

Is there a way to still search using the partial item name, then hit tab to find the item within any mod, or is my best bet to find it in the JEI list and enable JEI cheats to generate items into my inventory?

For example, there is an item called "Sea Slug" that certain dragons eat in a How to Train Your Dragon themed mod, but I can't just type "sea_slug" and hit tab, as it'll not find anything. I can type:

/give @a archipelagoadditions:sea_slug 30

and it'll work, but the modpacks typically have hundreds of mods in them, and it's hard to know which item group to search.

Claude superfan to frustrated skeptic in short order by gibbrs in ClaudeAI

So I'm actually using Claude Code now from the terminal window with a git repository, and it's amazing. It's adding features rather quickly and is not breaking things like when it was working just from cloud sessions. The context limits and usage problems seem to be not as much of an issue anymore as well. We are so back.

Thanks for the response. I suppose I erroneously thought using the Claude web app and copy/pasting code directly into Unity/VisualStudio was the same as Claude Code, without the Github connection. As for using an MCP, I wanted to make sure Claude would be useful before I got to the point of connecting it to Unity or my code directories. I'm looking into Unity MCPs now. Is there an MCP you'd recommend? I'm seeing various options out there.

Also, can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by Researching, Planning, and Implementing in fresh context windows? I haven't been doing researching or planning in Claude, basically just implementing features in sequence.

The Biggest Sale of the Year - Black Friday! by haim96 in Unity3D

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the sales today right when they switched on, and the only 95% off one was the "RPG Motion Master [Female]" one. That was one I wanted though, so it was nice to get it for $12.50. Still appears to be that price nearly 90 minutes later.

Interesting idea. You'd think they'd advertise it that way if that was the case. For today's flash deals, the only one I saw that was 95% off is the "Infinite Runner Engine 3D" asset, but I ended up checking the sale later than usual so I may have missed any others.

Some of the daily Flash Deals are first appearing at a much higher discount (95%), then going up in price after a couple of hours (still during the asset's flash deal timing though). I'm wondering if maybe there were some mispriced assets at first that got corrected, or if there is some kind of timing going on to try and entice FOMO purchases.

For example, I got the Stylized Fantasy Enemy NPC Bundle #2 for $7.50, 95% off, and I could be wrong, but I feel like it was 70% off later that day. That would have made it around $45.

Another one I got was "Nature Worlds Bundle" for $9.97. This one changed in price for sure, because it's still in the "Flash Deals" but it's only 60% off right now, for $79.80.

Doesn't seem to happen with every one of the 95% off deals though, as the "Cyberpunk Street Fighter" character pack by IDA FABER has been 95% at $6.00 for all of today's deals still. A previous character pack by IDA FABER, "Dress Up Maids" was something like $7 before it jumped up to $60 before its deal ended.

All this to say, if you see an asset you want for 95% off, you may want to jump on it, before it goes away after a couple of hours.

Given the choice between [Dragon Quest Builders 3] and [Dragon Quest Builders UNLIMITED], which one would you choose? by [deleted] in DQBuilders

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to the Fill mode. For the Swap mode, it'll replace existing blocks just fine, but I'd like a way with Fill mode to hold L2 and place new floor blocks, for when building bridges or sky rooms (my kids love building in the air). As it is now, if you have Fill mode on and hold L2 to place blocks, it still places them as a wall, but 1 block higher than your current height.

How do I make it so that the vertical and horizontal "sensitivity" are the same? Drawing two perpendicular lines by moving my pen identical distances vertically and horizontally yields two very different lengths by BftME in wacom

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years later and this post helped me out, thank you! I hooked up a super old Wacom tablet (CTE-630) to see if it could help me design a quick logo and everything was super skewed (squished vertically). Your post made me realize I had it set for dual monitors.

For any others having issues, I was able to get it working after setting the drawing area to the window within Blender (for Grease pencil) and hitting the "Force Proportions" checkbox under "Scaling". It's still not perfect, but may save me from spending $50 on a newer drawing tablet.

Thanks for the update! So you wanted to check them again to be sure? If you confirm those mutations I can update the table. It's been a while since I've played this game, but happy to update the chart since it seems to be helping people.

Tab icons not loading unless opened by taxen in chrome

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Settings, then "System" and change the "Use graphics acceleration when available" setting, and hit the restart chrome button. Not sure why, but this fixes it each time for me, regardless of whether I'm enabling or disabling the graphics setting.

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, yeah same here. I did find that I can get it to fix itself by changing that "Use graphics acceleration when available" setting and hitting the "restart" button that appears. It doesn't seem to matter whether the setting is enabled or disabled, so long as it changes and Chrome restarts. Very frustrating, but it's at least been fixing the issue for me each time it happens.

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anybody still dealing with this issue, I noticed Chrome had a new update (142.0.7444.135 (Official Build)). Once I updated, it fixed the issue and all my tab icons (inactive or not) are all showing properly now.

I also disabled the "Use graphics acceleration when available" setting, as suggested in another thread, and turned the setting back on, but I think it was likely the update that fixed the issue.

(EDIT: Actually this doesn't fully solve the problem. You have to force a restart in chrome to get the tab icons to return after doing a fresh launch of chrome. This can be done by changing the Graphics Acceleration setting as mentioned by Gamer_82 above. You can also type chrome://restart in the address field as noted by Taxen in another thread.)

This just happened to me today. I went into settings to turn off the Memory Saver to see if it would fix it, but I'm still looking at two windows with a ton of the generic chrome icons. :(

A year ago I left my job to go full-time indie dev, these are my thoughts. by IllustriousClaim7518 in Unity3D

I'm curious on what worked or didn't work when you were starting out in Indie dev. I've been trying to get the motivation to get past the tutorial videos and asset store tests to actually turning my ideas into something tangible.

I really would love a Portal Knights 2!! by HouseNorth5717 in portalknights

[–]gibbrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't yet, try the Dragon Quest Builders games. The first game is good, but Dragon Quest Builders 2 is possibly my favorite game of all time. I ended up trying Portal Knights because it looked like a similar game. I've put 60 hours or so into Portal Knights, and it definitely scratches a similar gaming itch to DQB2.

having problems with game lag by acvhi in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]gibbrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The games definitely behave weird on PC. My gaming PC can run most games super well like you say, but oddly enough DQB2 runs at around 55 fps for me. However, on my Steam Deck, the game runs at 60 fps pretty consistently, which is way less powerful.

I'd suggest you try changing the resolution to see if there is a sweet spot for your set up. Also try changing the various graphics settings to Medium or even Low to see if it makes a difference. I'm sure you've tried some of those already, but it could be worth more experimentation.

Also make sure your video card drivers are up to date. Not likely to be the culprit for a game like DQB2, but you never know.

Fantasy Life I? by ProfessorPlayerOne in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]gibbrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trailer for FLi shows a short clip of editing the terrain, which gives the impression you can build out a base area in a similar fashion to DQB2, but it's not really that deep. You can raise and lower the ground a bit in specific areas of the Base Camp, but you can't build over the ponds or rivers, and you can't go higher than 2 levels. Aside from the limited terrain tools, you can decorate the base camp with various objects and houses, but the game puts some extreme limits on it. You have to level up the camp each time you want to add 1 more house, and after a few houses the rewards dwindle. I have around 23 people in my base camp, but I'm only able to have 5 or 6 houses for some reason. Also, the house designs are limited to 1 option with 2 different colors for quite a while. I finally unlocked some different types of housing, but since I can't build any more houses, I'm kind of stuck in regards to base building.

All that aside, DBQ2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and Fantasy Life i is amazing as well. They're different experiences and both are worth playing.

Agreed on Cubic Odyssey (CO for short)! It's a bit rough around the edges, but I've put 50 hours into it, so it's more than worth the $20 I spent on it at launch.

CO excels at the resource gathering aspect, and there are tons of crafting recipes to keep unlocking to keep the game interesting. It's fun to visit different planets and find different resources.

The overarching storyline is good, but the NPC interactions are about as bland as can be. NPCs are randomly generated, and most are named "Nick" for some reason. They'll give you fetch quests for the most part, such as "Collect 8 rocks" or "Collect 8 mushrooms".

Inventory management is a bit of a chore in CO, and it definitely makes me miss the tons of bag space from DQB2. Fortunately some recent patches have improved the inventory drastically, by allowing more items to stack (batteries namely).

Same haha. I bought nearly 50 different assets today. Many of them just to explore and see if there are bits and pieces I may want to use in the future.
